Flames Lose in Dramatic Fashion

The Calgary Flames wasted an incredible effort last night and lost a heartbreaker of a hockey game to the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in a shootout.

The team and their fans deserved a much better fate...

But this is what happens when you leave Marian Hossa wide open in the slot with two seconds left.

The Blackhawks came out of Calgary with a win that they had no business winning but isn’t that what great teams do? They literally snatched a win for what certainly should have been defeat. While they were doing that, back in Chicago and Blackhawks fans everywhere were going through just about as many heart palpations as Ray Emery had logic defying moves.

The Blackhawks came into the Saddledome road weary with having played in Vancouver just 24 hours earlier to face a rested and motivated Calgary Flames. Luckily for the Blackhawks they packed their Ray Bans because it was Ray Emery banning almost everything from the Hawks net.

Blackhawks seek to extinguish the Flames in Calgary tonight

The Blackhaws will be entering the Saddledome on Saturday on the back end of a back-to-back, the third game on their road trip. Despite 2 OT losses in their last two games, Chicago is currently riding a franchise record season-opening point streak (8).

The Calgary Flames had last night off and will be eager to prove themself against red-hot Chicago. Calgary is currently in last place in the Western Conference, with a record of just 1-3-1. Their only win came against the Oilers on the Flames' home ice.

Game Preview: Flames vs Chicago Blackhawks

Things do not get any easier for the Flames as they welcome their toughest test of the season to the Dome, the Chicago Blackhawks. The two teams are on the opposite end of the spectrum in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks have yet to lose in regulation and are tied for 1st with 14 points, while the Flames have got off to a terrible start and sit in the West’s basement.

Game Preview: Flames vs Colorado Avalanche

After a four day break, the Flames get back at it tonight as the Colorado Avalanche come to down for the first of five meetings between the two clubs this season. The Flames are coming off a huge victory on Saturday against the Oilers, while Colorado played last night in Vancouver, falling 3-0.

Game Preview: Flames vs Edmonton Oilers

The Battle of Alberta is renew tonight as the Flames host the Edmonton Oilers, looking for their first win of the season. This is the first of four match-ups between the clubs this season with the next one not coming until April. The Flames have had the Oilers number the last couple of seasons, winning 15 of the last 18 but the Oilers have one the last two and many think this could finally be the season where the Oilers breakout. This game has all the makings of another classic in this provincial rivalry.

Fans and the like tend to want to push the panic button as soon as their team loses a couple in a row.
in this shortened season, there are those who are even quicker to jump on that magic button.

Game Preview: Flames vs Vancouver Canucks

Heading into Vancouver to face the Canucks, the Flames and the Canucks share one main goal, get their first win of the season. Both teams have got off to sluggish starts as they are winless in their first two games. While the Flames have battled inconsistency, the Canucks have been surrounded by their never ending goalie conundrum between Corey Schneider and Roberto Luongo. One team will get on track tonight, while the other will be digging a deeper hole.

Game Preview: Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

The Flames are right back at it tonight with the Anaheim Ducks in town as the Flames finish off rare back-to-back home games to open their shortened 2013 season. The Flames will look for their first win of the season after a disappointing 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks last night at the Dome. The Ducks on the other hand come into Calgary after a great start in Vancouver, beating the Canucks 7-3 to add to the Canucks never ending goaltending questions. This will be the first of three meetings between the teams this season.

Shark Bitten: Flames Stumble to Loss

The Flames came out flying in the first but quickly reverted back to the 'old' Flames and for got how to play hockey.

A quick three goals by the Sharks and the game was pretty well over.
