Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 1: Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers

By virtue of finishing third place in the Metropolitan Division, the Flyers have drawn the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. The Flyers and Rangers split their season series, with both teams winning twice on home ice.

Blackhawks drop game vs Rangers in regulation, 3-2

Early in the season, the Blackhawks picked up several wins where their best game wasn't there for the full sixty minutes, but they still managed to win the game. It might have hinted of a Cup hangover, but as the season rolled on, it was clear that the team didn't have any such thing - just their ongoing tendency to play some very sloppy periods within otherwise solid games.

Tonight versus the Rangers was one of those nights. The Blackhawks let themselves get outplayed in the first, and found themselves down 2-0 less than ten minutes into the game. Brad Richards opened the scoring with an even-strength goal; Mats Zuccarello put in a power play goal next off a pair of od...

Rangers Leave the Flyers Embarrassed, Without An Answer

Despite having been curt with the Flyers media most of the season, Ilya Bryzgalov is not one to be left speechless.

Last night left him speechless.

The embarrassing 5-2 loss to the Rangers was probably the most telling game of this dismal season in which the Flyers dropped to 13-17-2 and closer to the cellar in the Eastern Conference.

There was no "we must play better," or "we're not getting the bounces." It was a sign of submission by the Flyers, and they did so on a national stage.

Islanders Look To Keep Point Streak Alive As The Rival Rangers Come To Nassau

For the New York Islanders, home hasn't been very sweet, but somebody has been adding some sugar. The Isles, in the midst of a seven game home stand, have points in their last three games, all of which have been on home ice. Even better, they have fought through some adversity to earn these points.

Rangers Host Flyers at MSG

The Flyers travel to MSG to take on the Rangers. They look to attain their first three-game winning streak of the season against one of their biggest Atlantic Division rivals.

Will The Real Tampa Bay Lightning Team Please Stand Up

The first seven games for the Tampa Bay Lightning were a scoring fest. The Bolts netted 37 goals and went 6-1. Over the last four games, three on the road, the Bolts have scored just six goals and lost all four contests.

Tampa Bay is now 6-5 and leads the Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets by one point in the Southeastern Division.

Rangers Blank Isles 3-0

On Christmas Eve Saturday, New Yorkers everywhere tuned in as the New York Giants faced the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Despite getting off to an excellent start, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, the Jets looked very much like the weaker of the two teams all game long. They could not find a big play when they needed it, and made key mistakes – none larger than Victor Cruz’s 99 yard TD catch – which cost them the game.

On Monday night at Madison Square Garden two Atlantic division rivals faced off, and again New Yorkers tuned in to watch their teams compete. This time it was the New York Rangers facing the New York Islanders. And despite a few stretches of the game where the Islanders looked to control the play, the reality is that like the Jets, they played their part of weaker team to the Rangers for the majority of the game.

Lundqvist shuts out Flyers

The Winter Classic saw it's first preview of the season with the two teams squaring off at center ring in Madison Square Garden. But it was New York who threw the first punches in their 2-0 shut out win Saturday afternoon.
