Isles First-Half Rewind and Second-Half Preview

It’s been a heck of a first half for the Islanders as they coast into the All-Star break with a 31-14-1 record, good for first place in the Metropolitan Division. They ended up the nominal first half with wins in five of their last six and own a tidy 15-2-0 record against division foes. The team is doing everything it can to make the last season at the Nassau Coliseum a memorable one.

So as the team takes a well-deserved break before the final second half push kicks off next Tuesday against the Rangers, it’s time to take a look back and what happened over the season’s first 46 games and preview ahead to the final 36 regular season games.

Game Preview: Islanders Head North Looking For Revenge

It was only a few short weeks ago that the Montreal Canadiens and their contingent of rowdy fans stormed into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and halted an Islanders 4 game-winning streak with a 3-1 victory. Fast-forward to tonight and the Islanders (30-13-1) are on another 4 game winning streak, and once again are set to square off against the Canadiens (27-13-3). Only difference is, the Isles and their raucous supporters are traveling north of the border looking to extend the streak to 5.

Cappy's Battle Level Week 5

It's been a bit more than a week since the last Cappy's Battle Level. The West Coast trip took a toll, so I decided to wait it out until the Islanders weren't playing at 1 AM.

Isles Dominate Columbus 5-2, Remain Atop Metropolitan Division

If you believe in omens, scoring 31 seconds into the game isn't a bad sign if you're an Islander fan. At the end of the night the New York Islanders topped the Columbus Blue Jackets in dominating fashion, winning 5-2 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, setting the stage for what should be a great game Tuesday night against the Rangers.

Islanders Visit Buffalo Looking to Get Back on Track

The New York Islanders visit the Buffalo Sabres Saturday night as the NHL resumes games after its three day Christmas break. The Islanders will look to improve on its 23-11-0 record, good for second in the Metropolitan Division.

Time for the Islanders to Panic?

Man, it only took a couple of days to wipe out so many of the good feelings built up through the first eight weeks of the season. The question is now being asked by many: is it time for the Islanders to push the panic button?

It was only a few short days ago Islander fans and media alike were waxing poetic about the “special” season taking place over in Uniondale. The team was going to close out its time at the Nassau Coliseum with one final hoorah for the fans.

Game Preview: Devils at Islanders

The New Jersey Devils visit the New York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum for a 7:00 pm Metropolitan Division match up.

11/15/14 Pregame: Isles look to strike first in Tampa Bay

This game is the first of a home and home series between the two talented Eastern Conference teams. They will skate again in Uniondale on Tuesday 11/18/14. Tampa Bay and New York’s statistical lines throughout the 2014-15 look extremely similar.

Islanders Look to Bury Avalanche Tuesday Night

The Islanders will host the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday night at the Nassau Coliseum as the Isles look to extend its winning streak to four and improve to 10-5-0 on the season. It will be the Islanders first home game back after a 3-2-0 road trip out west but will be slightly better than a stop-over before the team hits the road to Florida for two more the rest of the week.

Islanders Edge Champion Kings in Shootout, 2-1

What a difference 24 hours can make.
On Wednesday night as the Islanders prepared to face-off with the Anaheim Ducks, there was a feeling of “here we go again” around the club and fans. An overtime victory in Anaheim followed up by a shoot-out win against the Stanley Cup Champion Kings Thursday night and the good vibes were rolling again on Long Island.
