Hawks fall to Bruins in OT 2-1

After coming off of that marathon game on Wednesday night the Chicago Blackhawks came out in the first period on fire and thoroughly dominated the Bruins.  The Shots were 19-4 in favor of the Hawks.  The unfortunate thing is they only had one goal to show for all their efforts.

The goal was scored by Patrick Sharp after a flurry of shots were blasted at the Bruins netminder with Tuukka Rask down Sharp was able to get the puck past him for the Hawks lone goal of the night.  The Hawks team speed was evident in the first period as they were much faster than the Bruins.

There was another goal that was disallowed due to the whistle being blown.  Whether it was t...

Blackhawks Defeat Bruins 4-3 in Triple Overtime.

It took just over 112 minutes of ice time for them to do it, but the Chicago Blackhawks are skating away from Game 1 with a well-deserved win over the Boston Bruins.

Stanley Cup Finals Preview: Blackhawks versus Bruins

The Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks are set to square off in the first Original Six finals match-up since 1979. The Blackhawks, who were heavily favorited to go all the way after starting the season with points in their first 24 straight games, had a difficult time in the semi-finals against the Red Wings but were able to recover and skate their way into the finals for the second time in four years and face a tough, streaking team in the Boston Bruins. Comparing the Blackhawks and Bruins: analysis by their playoff numbers

As the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks prepare to face off against one another in Chicago on Wednesday night, let's take a look at both teams by their playoff numbers thus far.

Boston has had 22 players dress in 16 games. Their top two scorers (Krejci and Horton) are not their top regular season scorers. (Their top scorers, in order, during the regular season were Marchand [36], Krejci/Seguin/Bergeron [32]). There is a gap in production after those two, although the next four top scorers (Marchand, Lucic, Bergeron, Chara) are much closer in scoring. The Bruins have 6 players with an average TOI of over 20:39; their highest is Chara with 29:21, who plays 5:11 more/gam...

Hawks return to SCF defeating Kings 4-3 in double OT thriller

And then there were two. It took two overtimes for the Chicago Blackhawks to punch their ticket back to the Stanley Cup Finals but they did. They now are returning there for an opportunity at the most coveted trophy in sports.

The game saw the return of two key players for each side, Mike Richards for the Kings and Duncan Keith for the Blackhawks. Both players factored into the game in significant ways.

Duncan Keith got the scoring going in the first with what would have to be categorized as a soft goal by Jonathan Quick. Keith fired off a slap shot just inside the Kings blue line that squeaked through Quick’s pads into the net.

Quick seemed to make another misjudg...

Blackhawks take 3-1 series lead with 3-2 Game 4 win

With the Blackhawks out of Duncan Keith's services for the evening on Thursday night, other players were going to have to step up in a big way.

Unfortunately for Sheldon Brookbank, he wasn't the solution, going -2 and logging just 6:50 of ice time. In comparison, the only forward even close to him in minutes was Viktor Stalberg at 8:47.

However, Johnny Oduya, Michal Rozsival, and Niklas Hjalmarsson were very noticeable in a good way for the game, making up for the missing Keith. Between them, they were +4 with 3 assists, 4 hits and 4 blocked shots.

Once again, the Kings were first on the board, with a goal by Slava Voynov just 3:28 into the ...
