Boynton to Hawks

James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail is reporting that Nick Boynton has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations from the Anaheim Ducks. Boynton will be immediately sent to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. The former 1st round pick defenseman has 1 goal and 6 assists in 42 games with the Ducks, as well as 4 assists in 9 games with the Manitoba Moose. More to come. Sounds like a lot of years right? And a lot of money? Well, apparently not for the Chicago Blackhawks, because that's how much they spent (or at least committed to spend) to when they resigned Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith to long-term contract extensions. The three muskateers of the Blackhawks will go to sleep tonight very rich men, and with a fair bit of financial reassurance. Kane and Toews signed identical 5-year deals worth $31.5 million dollars each, averaging out to a $6.3 million cap hit. Marian Hossa to make season debut vs Sharks

Marian Hossa will make his much-anticipated season debut tonight against the San Jose Sharks, in what can only be described as must-see TV. The Hawks currently ride a 7 win streak; and the Sharks are... well, the regular season Sharks. So you know they're good. Hossa will skate on the first line with Patty Kane and Jonathan Toews. In order to fit Hossa in, Kane had to be moved from Right Wing to Left Wing.
