Toronto Maple Leafs: Wave Goodbye to Tyler Bozak

By Lukas Hardonk (@LukasHardonk)

In case you have been living in a cave for the last year or so, let's get you caught up on the raging debate concerning Tyler Bozak potentially leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bozak's contract is up this summer. No one is entirely sure what to think of him.The Maple Leafs seem to think they need him.Major confusion ensues.

And now we're here. Two weeks from the beginning of free agency. Bozak doesn't have a contract. Nor does Clarke MacArthur. Time is ticking.

Let's focus on the third point above. Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle, who many have critiqued for his distribution of ice ...

Are the Toronto Maple Leafs About to Make a Huge Mistake?

By Lukas Hardonk (@LukasHardonk)

The Stanley Cup Final is underway which not only means its time to celebrate the greatest game in the world but also that the off-season is upon us and those who aren't fortunate enough to be playing hockey into late June have some important decisions to make. Having been defeated by the Final's Eastern Conference representative, the Toronto Maple Leafs are no different.

Along with Tyler Bozak's contract, the Maple Leafs' biggest decision this summer will undoubtedly be what the team should do with Clarke MacArthur, one of their most important depth players. Regardless of how you spin it, the Maple Leafs have no reason to l...

Maple Leafs vs. Bruins: Toronto Has Upper Hand in Game 7

Game 7 in Boston, 7pm ESTSeries Tied, 3-3

Toronto Maple Leafs versus Boston Bruins.

Game 7.

Stanley Cup Playoffs.

And things just got a lot more interesting.

After Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced following his team's 2-1 Game 6 loss at the hands of the Maple Leafs last night that their airplane had malfunctioned forcing the team to stay an extra night in Toronto, fans in Ontario's capital city began to rejoice.

As if they hadn't already been rejoicing.

In what was an extremely entertaining contest, the Maple Leafs shocked the hockey world by defeating the Bruins in Game 6 to force their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal s...

Second period flurry buries Flyers

After controlling the level of play through most of the first period, the Flyers were simply outplayed in every way, shape, and form in the second period.

In just the opening 4:10 of the second stanza, the Toronto Maple Leafs scored three unaswered goals on their way to a 5-2 win over the Flyers.

The first goal came on a rebound that bounced off Bryzgalov's pad and right onto enforcer Colton Orr's stick. It was Orr's 12th career goal in over 400 career games and was his first against the Flyers.

Deadline Decisions: Forwards

The Red Wings have achieved one of their two deadline goals with the acquisition of Kyle Quincey from Tampa Bay. Quincey gives the Red Wings 8 NHL-ready defensemen, a second point man for the 2nd power play unit and some more abrasiveness on the back end.

The Wings still seek some additional depth up front. At different times, the Red Wings' desires have been stated to be a scoring winger to flesh out the top-six or a gritty, defensive forward to provide a physical presence on the 3rd or 4th line. The Wings' performance in their two games since losing Pavel Datsyuk to injury cannot be encouraging. Detroit has looked disengaged at times and has trouble maintaining offen...

Islanders Get Raked By The Leafs, 4-3 In Over Time

Well if there is one thing that can be taken away from the Islanders home-and-home series with the Toronto Maple Leafs, it's that the Leafs' entire roster should be considered as finalists for the Lady Byng Trophy that is handed out to the most disciplined player at this year's NHL Awards Ceremony.

Although the whistle was blown against the Leafs after a scuffle in their end erupted after a tussle between Travis Hamonic and Phil Kessel, not once did the Islanders earn a power play tonight to total 120 minutes of hockey without an Islanders man-advantage going back to last night. The Leafs managed to beat the Islanders 4-3 in over time to complete the two-game sweep.

Islanders Get Mowed Down By Leafs 5-3

The Islanders took on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night in both teams final game before the holiday break. With the loss to the Rangers on Thursday night, the Islanders were definitely lacking confidence and it showed.

The Isles faced a Maple Leafs team who are having a pretty good season so far. Even with some injury...

Clarke MacArthur is One Sharp Player

Rebuilding a team doesn’t have a set blueprint for organizations to follow. There are a variety of ways organizations attempt to transform themselves from chumps to champs. However none of these paths succeed without a big assist from lady luck.

Every team that takes that step has a player they took a flyer on become a revelation. For example, I...

What if Everything Goes Wrong?

The hockey yearbooks have hit the stands and prognosticators everywhere are making their predictions for the upcoming season. It's also the time when the fans of all teams assume this is the season that their team will take that next step.

Fans on Twitter and around the Internet are vehement that this season the playoff drought will end for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I personally agree. Although, I do not agree with the fans that say the Leafs will make the Eastern Conference Final; it kind of proves the "plan the parade" argument.

For this article though, I'd like to look at the opposite end of the spectrum and speculate how everything can go off the ra...

Why the Luke Schenn Contract is Important.

Both the mornings and evenings have begun to get cooler, and with that slight change in tempearture, hockey seems to be getting closer and closer to returning. The back half of August is upon us, and maybe the Toronto Maple Leafs’ most important player for both this and future seasons remains unsigned.

Luke Schenn has developed into a cornerstone member of the Leafs. He is valuable on the ice, having led the league in hits by a defenceman last season with 251. As well as off the ice, being the longest serving Leaf (along with Kulemin and Grabovski) a strong character like Schenn’s is necessary in one of the youngest dressing rooms ...
