It's Official! Foppa Returns!

Peter Forsberg has returned officially to the Avs Well it is official. Peter the great has returned and signed a contract for the Avs today after practice. The team announced a little while ago but haven't announced specifics. He will travel with the team today but will not play in Phoenix tomorrow night. My bet is by Friday we could see him play or next Monday at home. It will be interesting as to what he can bring to the table, but honestly right now I would take anything from this team that is just playing uninspired right now after yesterday's 3-0 loss to the Ducks. News of the contract is $1 Million pro-rated... Not too shabby considering the Avs paid him $5 Mill prorated l...

The tale of two Peter's

This is the blog of two Peter's... Avs fans got both good and bad news on the Peter's out of Avalanche practice today. The not so good news has to do with Forsberg and his dreaded foot injury. Forsberg had to stop skating and leave the ice numerous times and was seen not only talking to the training but constantly messing with the skate from the bad foot. No one is jumping to conclusions, but that isn't a good sign for him and his foot. Still waiting for Adrian Dater's post practice blog as he was the one that has been reporting on the possible foot problems at practice today. Unless everyone is reading into what happened wrong, this could spell the near conclusion to the Foppa situa...

Here they come down the stretch...

Forsberg is one thing that will be a big topic down the stretch Well the All-Star festivities are over, the players are more than likely back with their teams, and now the fun begins. Teams are in either playoff mode or rebuild mode from here on out. The Avs are the tipping point as they could go either way. I want to point out some of the key stories that Avs fans will be following from here on out. 1. Peter Forsberg Saga Well the conclusion to the Foppa comeback should be coming soon, maybe even as soon as the end of the week. All signs are pointing towards a comeback and most likely signing with the Avs. The biggest things after he signs is how healthy is he? How many game...

Avs preview, Stastny added to the All-star team

Paul Stastny has been named as a replacement for the All-Star Game! Prior to my preview of tonight's contest against the Coyotes, I want to congratulate Paul Stastny who has been named as a replacement for the All-Star game. Paul will be joining Matty D and the Avs now have three players going including rookie Kevin Shattenkirk who will be apart of the skills competition. Paul has had an up and down year and it is good to see him finally be able to attend an all-star game after the last time where he was injured and could not attend. Good luck to both him and Matt and I hope they make the organization and the fans proud. Avalanche vs Coyotes Tonights game is huge for the team a...

Avs find their winning ways against St. Louis

Shattenkirk's powerplay goal broke a tie and lead the Avs to a win! It was a decent preformance by the Avs last night in a 4-3 win that was a lot closer than it should have been. THe one shock for the game was that all of the goals came from unlikely sources. Brandon Yip had two goals, Kevin Shattenkirk had one, and Ryan Stoa had the game winner. That's right, no goals for Duchene, Stastny, or Hejduk. But sometimes you have to have unlikely heroes in this league in order to succeed. Let's see if Stoa's goal will jump start a somewhat dissapointing career up to this point. But a win is a win and the Avs could be back on the right track. I have no idea what is going on with the g...

After two blowouts, Forsberg brings hope

Could he save the Avs season?! I don't care whether you like him or not, there is no questioning that when he was at his prime, Peter the great was one of the best players in the league. That is why the idea of getting a 70% Forsberg is a sign of hope for a struggling team. After two home blowouts against the Predators and Bruins. The team lacked energy or heart minus a couple of players, of course Duchene showed up. So far after todays full practice with the team, Foppa looked pretty darn good. I would even say he was flying during practice and looked really good. So far so good with the foot as he looked fine during practice. People in Denver are starting to get optomistic on h...

Peter Forsberg to join the Avs tomorrow!! Fleischmann done for season.

Forsberg will begin practicing with the team tomorrow Huge news after bad news.. One of the greatest Avs to ever play is making another comeback and will be skating with the team starting tomorrow! The news was just announced today after last nights 5-1 loss to the Predators. It was also a bad night for the Avs after it was found out Thomas Fleischmann would be gone for the season with pulminary emboli. Sad news for the Avs and Thomas, but they caught it before it could become more serious and possibly lead to sudden death Then today the Denver Post has reported that Forsberg will skat at practice tomorrow morning to see if a comeback is in the cards. Big 24 hours as an Av fan. ...

Avs beatdown Rival Minny

Craig Anderson played great and lead the team to a 4-1 win Well the Avs bounced back from being shutout in Chicago to winning pretty big against Minnesota. I say a 4-1 game is a beat down because of the trap style that the Wild have always been known for, so scoring 4 goals is pretty good. I will say however I would really contribute the 4 goals to Minnesota's rookie goaltender Anton Khudobin, who started last night after Minnesota's Jose Theodore was injured. Man do I feel bad for Minny's goalie situation. Never have I seen a team lose 3 goaltenders to injuries, let alone two to long term injuries. Well what is a bad situation for Minny, is a good situation for the Avs. Ander...

Avs get shutout

Chicago celebrates one of their goals Well obviously Avs fans can't blame Andy for the loss, seeing as he was on the bench to watch Budaj give up 3+ goals yet again. I really want to find out how many of Budaj's starts that he has given up more than 3 goals. The worse part was that he allowed 2 quick goals that I would consider bad on Budaj's part. That pretty much deflated the team and there was no way of winning after that. Budaj's play aside, the team just didn't come to play, and giving up two early goals shouldn't be an excuse. Oh and P.S. to fans, Budaj is actually having his worst statisitcal season, currently he holds a GAA of 3.12 (3 goals a game!) and a save percentage of...

Duchene the All-Star helps the Avs to a win!

Duchene's 3 point night leads the Avs to victory and secured a place int he All-Star game All I have to say is Matt Duchene is growing up and could become one of the elite players in the NHL. Duchene put in an amazing preformance that would have any Islanders or Lightining fan questioning if they made the wrong pick in 2009's draft. Duchene got another 2 goal night and ended with 3 goals and a +3 rating. He has been one of the only consistent players in the Avalanche's lineup the whole season. He has especially been amazing since the aquisition of Thomas Fleischmann from the Caps. Fleischmann had 3 assists in the game including assisting on both Duchene goals. Peter Budaj was in...
