Hawks win in Shoot out 2-1 over Wings

In a classic original six rivalry at Joe Louis Arena, the Chicago Blackhawks once again found a way to win and in doing so kept their streak alive. It is now 22 games where they have secured at least a point bringing the Blackhawks to a record of 19-0-3.

This game had that old time hockey feel to it, where goaltending was spectacular; incredible skating pace; perfect positioned defensive play and skilled forwards on both sides.

You don’t need high scoring to have a great hockey game which this one was. There is just something about Chicago and Detroit match ups that brings out the best in both teams.

There was no scoring, and very little penalties thro...

CHI @ DET- Game Preview

The Blackhawks are fresh off of an overtime victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blackhawks are number two in the NHL when it comes to the penalty kill. Detroit is in currently ranked at number 26. Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane and Red Wings Captain Henrik Zetterberg are currently i...

Blackhawks Host Blue Jackets; Look to Extend Points Streak to 21 Games

CHI vs CBJ03/01/20137:30pm CST The streaking Chicago Blackhawks (17-0-3) square off against the eternally mismanaged Columbus Blue Jackets (5-12-3) for the second time in six days tonight in Chicago's United Center, and one would expect the Madhouse on Madison to be rocking after the Red, White, and Black's decisive 3-0 road victory over division rival St. Louis last night. Captain Jonathan Toews led off the scoring in last night's affair just twelve seconds into the game and added another tally early in the third for his first points since he posted a goal and an assist on February 17th against the LA Kings. With Chicago continuing to fire on all cylinde...

Blackhawks beat the Blues to extend streak to 20

It took just 12 seconds for the Blackhawks to show how good they are this season.

That's how long it took for Jonathan Toews to put in the first goal of the game, with assists from Brandon Saad and Marian Hossa.

The Blackhawks would go on to notch their third shut out of the season, taking the win 3-0 in St. Louis. In an unusual circumstance, Chicago goalie Corey Crawford played just one period - the first - before Ray Emery took the net for the rest of the game. As Crawford was on the ice for the GWG, he is credited with the win; but neither goalie was credited with a shut out.

Crawford is reported to have an "upper body injury" that is &quo...

Blackhawks Look to End Homestand with Win Against Oilers

CHI vs EDM02/25/20137:30pm CST

The Chicago Blackhawks (15-0-3) look to extend their eighteen game points streak against the Edmonton Oilers (7-7-3) on home ice tonight. It’s the first of three meetings between the two Western Conference squads in this shortened season.

The Blackhawks, who, almost inconceivably, have yet to yield a regulation loss through their first 18 games, are playing in the second half of their fourth back-to-back this season after dispatching the perennially challenged Columbus Blue Jackets 1-0 last night. Despite putting forth one of their weakest efforts of the season, the Hawks were able to walk away with yet another victory on the strength of goa...

Hawks shutout Blue Jackets 1-0

While Hollywood was celebrating its cinematic achievements, Chicago was celebrating another Blackhawks regulation victory. The win was not a masterpiece but, it was a win that garnered the Hawks two more points. It continued their incredible run of points and separation from the rest of the pack. Their record now goes to 15-0-3.

If this game were a movie, it could easily be called The Return of the Shutout Man. Corey Crawford was easily the best Hawk on the ice and turned in his second shutout of this abbreviated season. Crawford stopped all 28 shots that came his way. He did get support from his co-stars.

Most noticeably on defense was Nik Hjalmarsson who c...

Ray Emery: 6-0-0 to Start the Season for the Blackhawks

2/20/13

The Chicago Blackhawks are off to a league record start, taking 16 games without a regulation loss.  Praised for its depth and talented roster of skaters, Chicago also rolls deep between the pipes this season.  Backup goaltender, Ray Emery, has started his season 6-0-0, contributing in ...

Blackhawks vs the Canucks: Record maker or record breaker

When the Vancouver Canucks come to town, it's always some of the most entertaining hockey of the season. The Blackhawks-Canucks rivalry is one of the most intense in the NHL.

The Blackhawks are on the verge of a record: they've already tied for the second-best start in league history (points in 15 games); with at least one more point in Tuesday's game, they'll tie for best. If they can avoid losing in regulation between now and Saturday, it's a new high for the books. Until the Blackhawks lose in regulation, they may be wearing a bigger target on their backs than the Los Angeles Kings are, as defending Stanley Cup champs.

You can bet that nobody w...

2:30pm CST

The Chicago Blackhawks (11-0-3) face off against the Los Angeles Kings (5-5-2) for the second time in this shortened season on Sunday at 2:30pm at the United Center. The Hawks defeated last year’s Stanley Cup Champions just four weeks ago by a final tally of 5-2 in the league's season opener in Los Angeles.

The Blackhawks are coming off a decisive 4-1 harpooning of the San Jose Sharks on Friday night, a game in which Chicago outshot their opponent 37-28 and got near-perfect goaltending from “back-up” netminder Ray Emery, who made 27 saves over the course of the contest.

Chicago’s win on Friday night, ...
