Hawks fall to Wings in SO; face division-rival Wild Thursday

The Red Wings and the Blackhawks met again on Wednesday night, and though the two teams are now in different conferences and meet just twice a year, the rivalry was as intense as ever. The Red Wings came from behind to secure the win in a thrilling 5-4 SO victory, with Darren Helm scoring the deciding goal in the shootout.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead at 8:41 of the first, when Marian ...

Hawks downed by Habs in OT; face Oilers at home Sunday night

In an exciting matchup between two Original Six teams, Corey Crawford was stellar, stopping 36 shots as the Hawks managed to earn a point against the Montreal Canadiens.

Andrei Markov would be the only Canadien to score, tallying both of Montreal’s goals while Marian Hossa scored the lone goal for Chicago.

Blackhawks face the Habs in Montréal on Saturday

The Chicago Blackhawks will face another Original Six team on Saturday night as they play the Canadiens at the Bell Centre in Montréal.

Last year, the Canadiens completely missed the playoffs and languished near the bottom of the league for most of the shortened season. This year, the team has turned around completely: with a 25-15-5 record and 55 points, they're sitting at third in the Atlantic division. They have a strong penalty kill - 3rd best in the league, at 86.3%.

Additionally, eight Habs will be representing their home country in the Olympics: Carey Price and P.K. Subban for Canada; Andrei Markov and Alexei Emelin for Russia; Max Pacioretty for the U.S....

Crawford returns in clash against Islanders

The Blackhawks (28-7-7) are ringing in the New Year with a familiar face finally back between the pipes.  Corey Crawford, who has been out since Dec. 17 with a lower-body injury, will be back in the lineup as the Blackhawks face the New York Islanders (13-21-7) in their first matchup in 2014.  The Hawks won the previous match 3-2 in Chicago, with Michal Handzus netting the game winner.

The New York Islanders, a team who has disappointed in the first half of the season after making the playoffs last year, are looking to build momentu...

High-flying Blackhawks prepare to face the struggling Maple Leafs

The last time the Blackhawks (23-6-5) saw the Toronto Maple Leafs (16-14-3), they were welcoming Dave Bolland's new team to the United Center.

Unfortunately, due to an injury sustained in a game in Vancouver on November 2nd, Bolland will not be in the lineup this Saturday night. The Leafs are without two of their top centers, because Tyler Bozak is also on IR due to an oblique injury.

The Maple Leafs have been struggling as of late. Early in the season, Toronto had a solid spot in the playoff rankings. They have gone 5-3-2 in their past ten games, and have slipped to second place in the Eastern wild card standings, 3 points ahead of Ottawa.

Toronto is ...

Blackhawks dominate Stars 6-2; head home to face Flyers

Trips to Dallas aren't quite automatic two points for the Blackhawks yet, but they're certainly playing well in the Stars' home barn.

Tonight's game was about scoring early and often for Chicago, starting with Michael Kostka scoring on his first shot of the game in his first game back after injury.

Patrick Kane would have a breakaway goal ten minutes later to make it 2-0; Brandon Saad would stretch the lead to 3-0 early in the second period.

Patrick Sharp would then score two goals within three minutes in the middle of the second - one on the power play, one even strength - to stretch the lead to 5-0 for the Blackhawks.

Hawks special teams shine in win against Panthers

The Blackhawks were dominant in a 6-2 win against the Florida Panthers, scoring 3 of their 5 goals on the power play and staying perfect on the penalty kill.  The win was tainted by an injury to starting netminder Corey Crawford, who lasted only 13:45 in the first period before being replaced by Antti Rannta.  Raanta was solid, making 28 saves and allowing only two goals.

The Hawks came out jumping in the first, and needed only 70 seconds to take the lead.  After a bad penalty by former Hawk Tomas Kopecky for high-sticking Niklas Hjalmarsson, Patrick Sharp blasted a high shot from the point on the ensuing power play past goalie Scott Clemmensen, who was screened on th...

Blackhawks fall to Wild 4-3; head home to face the Ducks

For the first time this season, the Chicago Blackhawks took two losses in a row.

The Blackhawks gave up one goal to the Wild early in the first, an even-strength goal for Matt Cooke, 4:23 into the game. It would take until late in the second period for Minnesota to grab another goal, this one a power play goal by Zach Parise to make it 2-0.

Chicago was getting outshot and outworked for most of the first and second periods. The Blackhawks had just 7 shots through 27 minutes. They looked more like a team coming off a two-week road trip than a team that had a day off yesterday.

Jeremy Morin would get the Blackhawks on the board with just 17 seconds remaining ...

Hawks' rally falls short as Lehtonen steals show

The Chicago Blackhawks pepperd Kari Lehtonen with 50 shots on goal, and rallied in the second period from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, but it wasn't enough as the Stars took home a 4-3 victory in Chicago's first home game back from the Circus Trip. Lehtonen was outstanding, stopping 47 shots on goal in his 400th NHL game.

The first 10 minutes of the first period were fairly back and forth, with good chances by both the Hawks and the Stars.  Dallas took c...

Hawks defeat Stars in marathon shootout; head to Phoenix to wrap up circus trip

The Hawks finished off the Canada portion of their Circus road trip with a 3-2 SO win against the Dallas Stars, moving their record to 5-1-0 on the circus road trip.  Corey Crawford stayed in strong in net on a night that the Hawks turned over the puck over far more often than usual, stopping 25 shots and denying 10 shooters in the shootout and earning his 100th NHL win in dramatic fashion.

The Stars got the first goal of the night after a bad play and miscommunic...
