Flyers Start West Coast Trip In Anaheim

The Philadelphia Flyers head out on a West coast trip this weekend. Their first stop is in Anaheim to face the flightless Ducks at 10:00 pm EST. It will be the debut of coach Bruce Boudreau with his new team and the question is, just how much will the coaching change effect this game tonight ?

The contract saga between Kyle Turris and the Phoenix Coyotes concluded yesterday in a two-year, $2.8M deal that will see Turris earn $1.2M this season and $1.6M the next. Both sides spoke amicably of one another to the point where it's unclear if at some point later on this season, after enough on-ice exposure, Don Maloney will eventually grant Turris' wish of a trade. According to TSN, there are at least three teams currently interested (Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto).

Nevertheless, there is a game tonight. The Anaheim Ducks roll into town after having won just one game out of their last ten, and the Coyotes dropped their last game against Washington. Bot...

Hobey Baker Award winner Andy Miele makes his NHL debut for the Phoenix Coyotes tonight as they face off against the 4-2-0 Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Centre. Puck drop is at 5 p.m. PST.

The 2-3-1 Coyotes, despite putting in a better effort against the Los Angeles Kings, were blanked as Jonathan Quick recorded his 100th career win with a shutout, 2-0. Both the mornings and evenings have begun to get cooler, and with that slight change in tempearture, hockey seems to be getting closer and closer to returning. The back half of August is upon us, and maybe the Toronto Maple Leafs’ most important player for both this and future seasons remains unsigned.

I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say that Corey Perry is my least favorite player in the NHL. Perry is the kind of player who plays dirty and never has to stick up for himself; he has George Parros to do that for him. You might think I would hate Parros more, but it's his job to fight. It's Perry's combination of skill and dirtiness that makes you hate him.
