Isles Host Panthers In April Fool’s Matchup

A lot of fans might see this game as one of “The Greatest Tank Battles,” but the Islanders are not just playing out the string. They have points in their last four games, going 3-0-1 in that stretch. The one game the Isles didn’t win was a 13 round shootout loss to the probably playoff bound Tampa Bay Lightning.

Blackhawks dominate Stars 6-2; head home to face Flyers

Trips to Dallas aren't quite automatic two points for the Blackhawks yet, but they're certainly playing well in the Stars' home barn.

Tonight's game was about scoring early and often for Chicago, starting with Michael Kostka scoring on his first shot of the game in his first game back after injury.

Patrick Kane would have a breakaway goal ten minutes later to make it 2-0; Brandon Saad would stretch the lead to 3-0 early in the second period.

Patrick Sharp would then score two goals within three minutes in the middle of the second - one on the power play, one even strength - to stretch the lead to 5-0 for the Blackhawks.

Isles Fall In OT, Still Manage To Earn Playoff Glory

The New York Islanders season-ending five game road trip continued last night in Raleigh as the team fell to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in the shootout.

The importance of the loss being in the shootout was that, in conjunction with the Winnipeg Jets regulation loss, the Isles earned their first playoff appearance since 2007. Had the Islanders lost in regulation, there would have been no clinch.

In essence, the Isles played just well enough.

Flyers Powerplay, Bryzgalov Come Alive In 5-3 Win Over Carolina

The Flyers were a dismal 5-for-40 on the powerplay heading into the game, good for 24th in the league at 12.5%.

That number increased after the Flyers' offensive outburst with the man advantage and it helped them snap a three-game losing streak with their 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night.

The Flyers went 3-for-3 on the power play, by far their best special teams effort of the season.

Struggling Flyers Host Hurricanes

The Flyers look to snap a three-game losing streak against a hot Hurricanes team. The Flyers are also starting a four-game home stand in which they start and finish versus Carolina.
