Flyers Sluggish In Loss to Rangers

The Flyers don't want to erase all of the hard work they put in since Feb. 1.

The Flyers dropped 3-1 to the Rangers on Wednesday, their second straight loss and dropping their record to 12-4-1 in nearly two months. The loss also dropped the Flyers three points behind the Rangers for second in the Metro, but they still have two games in hand.

MCL sprain is a 4-6 week nightmare for Helm

The injuries keep piling up for the Red Wings. Centerman Pavel Datsyuk has returned but now speedster center Darren Helm is out 4-6 weeks with a MCL sprain in his left knee. The injury occurred against San Jose when Helm attempted to land an awkward hit on Sharks forward Dominic Moore.

Gustav Nqyuist has already been recalled from Grand Rapids to take his spot and may be staying with the team for the forseeable future now. Helm will miss the remainder of the season and most likely the entire first round of the playoffs as well. Look for Justin Abdelkader to take his spot as the pivot on the third line.

If Lombardi is healthy, he will slide into the third line centre position between Armstrong and Kadri. That line will be able to provide the Leafs with plenty of offensive support, as well as checking strength (mostly through Armstrong and Lombardi). Depth at the centre ice position, something that the Leafs have been glaringly lacking, will be a welcome strength now that Lombardi seems to be on the mend....
