Islanders' Possible Lineup: Update

Due to recent Islanders’ news and developments during the first two days of training camp a previous Checking Line post had to be updated.

It has become apparent that Lubomir Visnovsky will not be reporting to the Islanders’ training camp after skipping a flight the team booked for him on Sunday. The NHL is waiting to see if the KHL will stick to their guns and not allow him to play on his current team, Slovan Bratislava, where he was playing due to the lockout. (Photo Credit:

Making Strides

The 2012 NHL Entry Draft has come and gone and the Islanders made it obvious that they are focused on improving their defense for the years to come. With free agency a mere six days away there are many variables that could come into play for New York Islanders' GM Garth Snow and head coach Jack Capuano when deciding which six defenseman will be in the line-up in Pittsburgh on October 13th. Sharks Killed in Bridgeport

With apologies to that great philosopher Forrest Gump, 'a matinee is like opening a box of chocolates; you never know what you are going to get.' A 1 o'clock game the same day as the NHL's Winter Classic, I was surprised at the crowd at the walk-up windows and the number of cars in the parking lot. Attendance was announced at 5945 and included Charles Wang and Garth Snow, neither of whom I saw in line for tickets.

Coming off a long road trip of 18 hours on the bus and a disappointing end to 2011( last place in the division with just 2 wins in the last 12 games), the Bridgeport Sound Tigers were about to face the Worcester Sharks (near the top of the division with but 9 losses in 32 games).
