The Kings (14-8-2; 30 points) head Phoenix to take on the Coyotes (12-10-3; 27 points) tonight at 7. Los Angles finished their recent five game home stand 4-1 and have won 11 of their last 14 games. The sharp turn around puts the Kings in second place in their division and third in the West. The Pacific rival Coyotes are fourth in the division and ninth in the West.

The two teams met in the West Conference finals last May and despite playing only one game this season are familiar with one another. Fast physical games are common place and tonight’s game will provide intensity with the Kings trying to keep their moment...

Tonight's game marked the halfway point of the season and unfortunately for the Kings their last meeting against Calgary. The teams took the ice tonight after playing Saturday night where the Kings erupted for a 6-2 win. The Kings 3-1 victory tonight puts them in third place in the Western Conference a position, which didn't seem possible a couple of weeks ago.

The Flames changed things up by starting Joey MacDonald in the net. MacDonald played well making 19 saves on 21 shots.

Dustin Brown scored the opening goal 5:39 into the game. Slava Voynov found Dustin Brown wide open on the left side of the crease on the Kings only extra man opportunity of the night...

The Kings collected 6 points before losing to the Canuck's last night in Vancouver, 5-2. Los Angeles' winning streak and Jeff Carter's goal streak came to an end after five games.

It was a week of vengenace as the Kings defeated Colorado, Anaheim and Detroit - all teams they lost to in their first go round. The Kings fell to Vancouver a team they beat 3-2 in January. Today the Kings sit in last place in the Pacific Division and 11th in the Western Conference. Preview: The Kings (10-6-2; 22 points) travel to Vancouver to play the slumping Canucks (10-5-4; 24 points) tonight at 7. A week ago Los Angeles was last in the Pacific Division but after five consecutive wins they sit in second just behind the Anaheim Ducks. The Canucks stand on top of the Northwest Division but have gone on a lull dropping two straight and collecting only two wins in their last seven games.

With the teams heading in different directions look for a fast and open first period. The Kings have had more success in the beginning of games creating pressure leading to scoring opportunities. Cory Schneider is expected to start in the net for the Canucks...

The Kings (7-6-2; 16 points) host the Avalanche (7-7-1; 15 points) today at 1. Capturing two wins in their back-to-back games in Canada the Kings return to the Staples Center where they will play 13 of their next 16 games. A slow start to the season landed the Kings in the basement of the Pacific division one point behind Dallas. Despite their positioning Los Angeles has played more consistently and is poised to make a run. The Avalanche beat the Predators and Blues in their last two games and have Gabriel Landeskog returning. Landeskog scored the game-winning goal in the third period when the Kings lost to the Avalanche, 3-1 in Colorado.

On the last leg of their extended road trip, the Kings did something that has only happened once before this season—win consecutive games. Following a 3-2 win over Edmonton on Tuesday night, the squad finished the Alberta sweep with a 3-1 victory against the hapless Calgary Flames Wednesday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Los Angeles now pulls within one point of the Dallas Stars as they attempt to scratch and claw their way out of the Pacific Division cellar and to be sure, it’s better late than never.

The Flames kick off a three game homestand tonight as the defending Stanley Cup champions; Los Angeles Kings come to town for the first meeting between the clubs this season. The Flames have underperformed at the Dome thus far with a measly 2-4-2 record. The Kings will conclude their three game road trip after defeating the Oilers 3-1 last night in Edmonton.

It would have been foolish to assume that the Kings wouldn’t hit a speed bump or two over the course of their road-trip.
