When Will Wang Sell The Isles?

It was recently tweeted by Bob McKenzie of TSN that the owner of the New York Islanders, Charles Wang, is in talks to sell his majority stake hold of the team.

And the social media crowd went wild.

Islanders fans immediately jumped to conclusions about what the sale of the Islanders could mean for the future of the franchise.

Islander Fans' Civil War

There’s a battle raging on with the hockey team from Nassau. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with playoff races or games on the ice or “X’s and O’s.” No. This battle goes beyond the ice, into the decrepit seats, into the parking lot and onto the streets. It’s the battle between all those who bleed orange and blue. The battle of the “glass half full’s” and “glass half empty’s.” Our own civil war. (Photo credit: Hazboy/flickr).

Time for Change in Leadership

The Islanders disappointing season continues and after a difficult week with the trade deadline it’s now time to see where the future holds for the team. With one more season on Long Island before moving to Brooklyn, serious evaluations of this organization will be in place at the conclusion of the season.

Analyzing The Thomas Vanek Trade

As announced yesterday, Thomas Vanek was dealt to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for prospect forward Sebastian Collberg. A conditional second round pick will be sent to the New York Islanders in addition to Collberg if the Habs make the playoffs, with a conditional fifth round pick then being sent to the Canadiens. However, if Montreal fails to make the playoffs, the trade stands as just a single player swap (Photo credit: Michael Cummo Photography/Flickr).

Pregame 3/6/14: Islanders At Oilers

The New York Islanders are in Edmonton to take on the Oilers at the Rexall Place in their second and final meeting of the season. Game time is 9:30pm in New York and 7:30pm in Edmonton.

Isles, Grabner Fly Past Jets in OT

On a day highlighted by trade talk, the Islanders escaped on the ice and prevailed in overtime after blowing another 3rd period lead. The Vanek trade is still the number 1 story in Islanders nation, but this was a great way to have some fun while Garth and company look to get a deal done.

Garth Should Pay The Fans Back Not IOC

Garth Snow must take responsibility for the teams poor performance this season. JT getting hurt did not ruin the year, the roster that he assembled proved to be a unit that could not win enough to be competitive, so before he proclaims others must pay back season ticket holders, he should look at himself in the mirror.

Tavares Injury Could Cause Chaos In Isles Nation

Tavares injures knee in Canada's 2-1 nail biter over Latvia. The severity of the injury is reportadly devastating and could set the Islanders team back another couple of years...again.(flickr/msflaster)

Vanek And Grabner Return To LI, But For How Long?

With Austria's most recent loss to the Slovenians, Thomas Vanek and Michael Grabner will both be returning to Long Island with their Olympic tours coming to an early end (Photo credit: Michael Cummo Photography/Flickr).

Grabner leaves the tournament second in scoring, only behind Team USA's Phil Kessel. Vanek finished with only one assist in the four games played as Team Austria's captain.

Now Vanek will focus on returning to a destination that he will likely only call his home for a short while longer. It was evident that Isles GM Garth Snow was looking to move the star forward before the NHL roster freeze. When NHL games resume, there will be only five days left for Snow to trade Vanek to a contending team looking to bolster their roster before the playoffs.
