We should probably preface all of this by declaring that, outside of Carey Price, the Montreal Canadiens probably didn't deserve to win tonight (Jeez, haven't heard THAT before, eh?).

The Habs played a sloppy and inconsistent game against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre tonight, and the end result was a 4-3 overtime loss against what was obviously a better team.

That's what should have been the game story following tonight's game. Instead, we're left to sift through the wreckage of the hockey equivalent of a nuclear missile. No, the story of tonight's game wasn't Carey Price's amaz...

The Montreal Canadiens are wearing me out this season. If any of the other authors on the site are reading this, they're probably going to kill me for speaking to you, the readers, in the first person while I write a game recap, but honestly, this is kind of a special case. This article, or rather blog (screw it, rant), is not meant as a straightforward game recap or analysis. There's a much bigger problem plaguing this team than what last night's horrid loss to the Isles may have even indicated, and it's about time that problem was addressed.

Injury Depleted Penguins defeat the Habs

All the injuries accumulated by Pittsburgh - no Crosby, no Malkin, no Letang, no Kennedy, etc - proved to be no problem last night, as the Penguins defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-1.

The game featured two players who hit milestones in their careers. Arron Asham was playing in his 700th career game, and Hal Gill was playing in his 1000th. When Hal's milestone was announced to the crowd, he received a nice ovation from the Pittsburgh fans, which was nice to see.

The game itself was a lackluster affair for the Habs. They got Cammalleri back from his injury, and after playing an up-tempo game against the Sabres on Tuesday, the feeling was that the Habs would carry that...

Over the last couple of weeks, we've been ranking and rating the players of the Montreal Canadiens. First, we looked at the top-six forwards before rating the lower-tier forwards, or, the best of the rest. The next logical step is, of course, the defense.
