Off-Season Rankings: The Defense

 


Over the last couple of weeks, we've been ranking and rating the players of the Montreal Canadiens. First, we looked at the top-six forwards before rating the lower-tier forwards, or, the best of the rest. The next logical step is, of course, the defense.

I toyed with the idea of presenting the defense rankings first this year, since, as we all know, coach Jacques Martin tends to go with a defense-first system. Last week, we started a five-part series, ranking, rating, and analyzing the members of the Montreal Canadiens. From the forwards, to the defense, to the goaltending and management, we’re going to look at it all before the start of training camp. The NHL Entry Draft has come and one. Another year of teams selecting new prospects that will fill their line-ups, and their arenas for many seasons to come. Another year of GMs jockeying for position with trades of picks, prospects, and roster players in order to solidify their line-up before everything gets crazy again on July 1st.
