Flames lose third straight; Trade Deadline Looms

The Flames once again blew a big lead and lost in a shootout.

Now, they sit one point back of the 8th and final spot and need to wake the hell up if they pan on playing playoff hockey in April.

Will Jay Feaster make a move or will he stand pat? All is answered here.

Flames in Playoff Spot; PP Struggling

The Flames jumped into a playoff spot for the first time this season on Saturday night with a 1-0 win over the LA Kings.

What lies ahead for the Flames with 23 games left on the Sked?

Also, the PP has been struggling of late. Why is that?

Cammalleri ties it late; Flames get point

The Flames salvaged a point out of the Stars and Mike Cammalleri was a big help.

The Flames now sit two points back of both the Coyotes and the Kings, who they play on Saturday night, for the 8th and final playoff spot

Olli Olli Oxen Free

Olli Jokinen and the Calgary Flames have had an interesting past three years to say the least.

Trading for him.

Trading him away in a bizarre situation.

Re-signing him five months later.

It's been odd. But now, he is the Flames leading scorer and has a contract expiring. What do you do with him?

Flames Don't Like Disneyland

The Flames streak of losing in Disneyland continued as they fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Ducks.

Despite having a PP in the last half of the third, and glorious opportunities in the OT and the shootout, they still came up short.

They got one point, but desperately needed another.

Flames shut out by Sharks

The Flames head into the All Star break by losing 1-0 to the San Jose Sharks.

Through 50 games they sit in exactly the same position as last season.

Will this year be any different? Come and find out

Calgary Flames: Fall to Sharks in Shootout

Failing to take advantage of a great effort from goalie on out and failing to take advantage of a bad ‘non goal’ against the San Jose Sharks in OT, the Flames fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Sharks to kick off a three game road trip.

The Flames have a lot of positives to take out of tonight's effort however and will look to take those into Thursday's tilt with the Kings.

Mr. 500: Jarome Iginla

On Saturday night, in front of a sold out Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Flames captain and franchise player Jarome Iginla became the 42nd player in NHL history to score 500 goals and only the 15th player to score 500 goals with a single team.

(The other 14 are: Jean Béliveau, Mike Bossy, Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, Guy Lafleur, Mario Lemieux, Stan Mikita, Mike Modano, Gilbert Perreault, Maurice Richard, Joe Sakic, Bryan Trottier and Steve Yzerman.)

It wasn’t your vintage Iggy (see below) coming down the right side, left leg pump, top cheese kind of goal, but it went in nonetheless, just like all the other 499 did. Who cares if it banked off two...

Where do we put the dynamite?

by Bryan Wright

Following every Flames loss, the cries come on twitter, on radio call in shows and in newspaper columns, that it's time to 'blow it up.'  Never have the cries been louder than after last night's 9-0 loss to the Boston Bruins; a humiliating defeat that was the team's fifth in a row and ended a dismal seven game road trip.  My question is, what prey tell, is there to blow up? In idea behind the 'blow it up' philosophy is that the current assets could be shed for some solid returns that would help the team improve in the future.  The only assets the Flames have right now, are Miikka Kiprusoff and...

The Calgary Flames: Mid Season Report

By Derrick Newman 40 games into the 2011-12 season the Calgary Flames are hovering in 12th place in the Western Conference two points back of the Dallas Stars and nine points back of the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the Northwest division. Now, the idea of winning the division at the beginning of the season was a pipe dream with the likes of defending Western Conference champion Vancouver being in the mix, and truth be told it’s about as likely to happen as Mission Impossible winning Best Picture at the Oscars. But, the idea of the Flames making the playoffs has always been a point of contention. Will they or won’t they? Well, if the ...
