Hawks score twice in 9 seconds to stun Vancouver

The Hawks and Canucks rivalry has dimmed over the last year as the teams have not faced each other in two consecutive playoff series.  Tonight, however, the hockey didn’t disappoint and the game was fast and fiesty as the Hawks came from behind to take a 2-1 win.  The game was fast and tight, with a battle between goalies Corey Crawford and Roberto Luongo, who went head to head and made 36 and 27 saves, respectively.

The game started with a ba...

Blackhawks head to Nashville for first of back-to-back games

The reunions keep rolling for the Blackhawks as they head to Nashville to play against former Hawks Viktor Stalberg and goalie Carter Hutton just two days after re-acquiring Kris Versteeg.  Versteeg will lace up against the very player who sent him away from the Hawks in a trade to Toronto, Stalberg, who signed as a free agent in Nashville this past summer.

This is the first of back to back games for the Hawks, as they’ll return to the United Center to face off against the San Jose Sharks, their last ho...

Hawks welcome back Versteeg in trade with Panthers

Last night, the Hawks turned heads by welcoming back Kris Versteeg from the Florida Panthers along with prospect Phillipe Lefebrve in exchange for forward Jimmy Hayes and defenseman Dylan Olsen.

Versteeg, a fan favorite, played a key role on the Hawk’s 2010 championship winning team, and was then a victim of the subsequent roster turnover due to the cap crunch that sent him to Toronto for former Hawk Viktor Stalberg. After playing briefly for the Leafs and Flyers, he found a spot in Florida for t...

Hawks ground Jets in 4-1 home win

The Hawks were firing on all cylinders as the Winnipeg Jets rolled into town on Wednesday night.  Three days after their defeat in Calgary, the Hawks came back to Chicago and dispatched the Jets 4-1.  Corey Crawford was solid in net with 23 stops as the Hawks reached double digits in the win column with their 10th of the season.

This was also the ‘official’ Chicago homecoming of former Hawk forward Michael Frolik, who received a warm welcome from ...

Toews Leads Comeback Win Over Sens

The Hawks faced the Senators in the second game of a back to back trip, but the pace was far from sluggish as the two teams traded chances in a high scoring affair en route to a wild 6-5 win.  Jonathan Toews scored his 3rd career hat trick and collected an assist while Corey Crawford made 13 saves in relief of Nikolai Khabibulin after the backup netminder let in 4 goals in 22 shots.

The Hawks scored their first goal of the night on the power play off of a hard sho...

Blackhawks face the Buffalo Sabres

The Blackhawks prepare to face an unfamiliar Eastern Conference opponent. The last time the Hawks faced the Buffalo Sabres was back in 2012. This will be the first of two meetings this season between these two clubs.

The Buffalo Sabres are winless to this point with a 0-4-1 record which, could make them a very dangerous team if the Hawks overlook them or the dislike level is too low considering they have not faced each other much.

The Sabres come into this tilt with scoring problems as they are just averaging one goal a game. If that continues then the Blackhawks should be in good shape. You can never discount the Sabres however with Ryan Miller in net for Buffalo. Look for Co...

Three Players That Should Make The Blackhawks Roster

The Chicago Blackhawks start the defense of their Stanley Cup on Oct. 1 against the Washington Capitals. Recently, the team made some cuts to get the roster closer to the desired number of players the team will take into the season. A lot of the players who won’t make the team will either be sent to Rockford or to their respective junior league teams to get more seasoning.

Here are three players I believe will make the team out of camp. These are players who have done all they could do in Rockford. Now,  these players deserve a chance to make the team. During training camp and the preseason games these players have shown that they belong.

Game 7 Central Division showdown: Blackhawks vs Red Wings tonight

After a playoff-shortened season, the NHL gets the kind of finish it can only have dreamed about.

Going into tonight's game between Chicago and Detroit, the last five teams standing are those who have won the Stanley Cup over the past five seasons: Detroit (2008), Pittsburgh (2009), Chicago (2010), Boston (2011), and Los Angeles (2012). Four major, long-time hockey markets, and last year's defending Cup champs.

The only way the league could have scripted it any better is if the Final comes down to the Blackhawks versus the Penguins, the two powerhouses of the NHL and regular-season winners of their respective conferences in a winner-take-all showdown.
