Kings win 2-1 over the Minnesota Wild

The Kings came into this game off of a 1-0 win over the St. Louis Blues that the Kings were severely out shot and out played but still managed to win thanks to goalie Jonathan Quick and this game was no different. This time Quick was able to stop 40 of 41 shots to keep the Kings riding the wave of his stingy goaltending.

Niklas Backstom was in nets for the Wild and played great but Jonathan Quick was just too much for the Wild coupled with their lack of being able to convert on the power play where they went zero for five. The Wild also were coming in having played relatively few games with a light schedule.

The Wild dominated play in the first period but it was the Kings who ...

'Zus strikes down Kings; Hawks force Game 6

In a matchup that felt more like a Game 7 than a Game 5, the Hawks and Kings put on a show in a 5-4 double OT win for the Blackhawks.  Corey Crawford and Jonathan Quick both made 40 saves, and it was Michal Handzus who would put it away for the Hawks 2:04 into the second overtime period.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on a power play just 1:13 into the first that had Drew Doughty in the box for tripping Jonathan Toews. Brent Seabrook let los...

Hawks gear up to face LA Kings

The Hawks have a return engagement to the Western Conference Final with a very familiar opponent, in fact the same opponent as last year, the Los Angeles Kings. In a series that could be called the tournament of champions the Hawks and the Kings are the last two Stanley Cup Champions and are looking for more championships but must get past each other first.

Throughout these playoffs we have heard the terms resolve and resiliency used on several occasions when describing the Chicago Blackhawks. Now more than ever they will need to muster all of their resolve because the LA Kings have an equal amount and know how to win and what it takes.

The Los Angeles Kings have faced elimina...

Kings Hault Flyers Streak at Five

Jeff Carter and Mike Richards came to Philadelphia to play against the team that drafted them for the first time together on Monday.

The duo made their homecoming sweet as the Kings skated away with a 3-2 win, stopping the Fleyrs' five-game winning streak in its tracks. It was Carter's first game back in Philadelphia, missing his first opportunity two years ago when he was injured with Columbus.

Hawks head to the Olympics; USA/Canada player preview

After ending the first part of their season on a road trip where they went 2-1-3, the Blackhawks, along with the rest of the NHL, will have a 2 week break as the Winter Olympic games commence in Sochi, Russia.  Four of the 10 Hawks competing in the games will play for the two North American teams, as Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith will return for their second Olympic games after winning gold with Team Canada in Vancouver, while Patrick Sharp will make his Olympic debut for the Canadians. Kane scores twice as Hawks sweep series against Kings

The Hawks entered their 6,000 NHL game as a franchise with one goal in mind- to rebound from a rough shootout loss against the Sharks, and they celebrated the occasion by finishing off a series sweep of LA. Patrick Kane would score twice while Corey Crawford was stellar with 31 saves as the Hawks continue their west coast road trip, having earned six out of eight possible points so far.

Flyers Silence Kings After Rough Game In Anaheim

The Flyers have just two wins in their last seven games. Both of those wins are shutouts.

The Flyers blanked the Kings, 2-0, just days after getting scorched for five goals against the Ducks. Earlier in the week, they snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 drubbing of the Red Wings.

The game looked to be a low-scoring affair early as the teams tallied just 12 shots in a scoreless first.

Wayne Simmonds scored his 100th career goal in the win. It was also his first trip back at the Staples Center since 2011 when he was traded to Philadelphia, making the goal even more special.

Lowly Islanders Head To L.A. To Face The Kings

The New York Islanders continue their western road trip tonight with a stop in Los Angeles to face the Kings, still searching for their first regulation win after the last 11 games played.

The Islanders will still be without Evgeni Nabokov tonight, as Kevin Poulin is slated to start between the pipes. At the other end of the ice will likely be Ben Scrivens, who has taken over for Jonathan Quick after he went down due to injury. Scrivens has played exceptionally well, helping keep his team in the top three of the Pacific Division and 5th in the Western Conference.

Selecting Team USA Series; Is It Still Miller Time? Who should start for team USA in Net?

*It is important to understand that the selections to follow are based not on what I think will occur, but on what I believe should happen. This is an opinion editorial and is not a prediction.*

In deciding who will be the starters for team USA, one has to understand the multiple elements of play that will come into consideration. The coaching staff will have their favorites and will understandably select the players who they are most comfortable with. That comfort level typically is found in current teammates, divisional opponents, and current/former players. This will all be taken into consideration in the creation of the current Olympic roster for Team USA.

The Starter - Ry...
