Flyers Silence Kings After Rough Game In Anaheim

The Flyers have just two wins in their last seven games. Both of those wins are shutouts.

The Flyers blanked the Kings, 2-0, just days after getting scorched for five goals against the Ducks. Earlier in the week, they snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 drubbing of the Red Wings.

The game looked to be a low-scoring affair early as the teams tallied just 12 shots in a scoreless first.

Wayne Simmonds scored his 100th career goal in the win. It was also his first trip back at the Staples Center since 2011 when he was traded to Philadelphia, making the goal even more special.

Lowly Islanders Head To L.A. To Face The Kings

The New York Islanders continue their western road trip tonight with a stop in Los Angeles to face the Kings, still searching for their first regulation win after the last 11 games played.

The Islanders will still be without Evgeni Nabokov tonight, as Kevin Poulin is slated to start between the pipes. At the other end of the ice will likely be Ben Scrivens, who has taken over for Jonathan Quick after he went down due to injury. Scrivens has played exceptionally well, helping keep his team in the top three of the Pacific Division and 5th in the Western Conference.

Selecting Team USA Series; Is It Still Miller Time? Who should start for team USA in Net?

*It is important to understand that the selections to follow are based not on what I think will occur, but on what I believe should happen. This is an opinion editorial and is not a prediction.*

In deciding who will be the starters for team USA, one has to understand the multiple elements of play that will come into consideration. The coaching staff will have their favorites and will understandably select the players who they are most comfortable with. That comfort level typically is found in current teammates, divisional opponents, and current/former players. This will all be taken into consideration in the creation of the current Olympic roster for Team USA.

Calgary Flames: 3-2-2 (8 points); 6th Pacific, T11th Western - Streak: L2

The Kings look to continue their hot streak tonight at the Staples Center where they will face the desperate Flames at 7:30. Los Angeles has won five of their last six games while Calgary has struggled in California dropping their most recent games to Anaheim and San Jose.

Heading into tonight's matchup the teams are gravitating in opposite directions. The Flames began the season collecting at least a point in their first five games but have lost their last two games giving up an average of four and a hal...

Hawks return to SCF defeating Kings 4-3 in double OT thriller

And then there were two. It took two overtimes for the Chicago Blackhawks to punch their ticket back to the Stanley Cup Finals but they did. They now are returning there for an opportunity at the most coveted trophy in sports.

The game saw the return of two key players for each side, Mike Richards for the Kings and Duncan Keith for the Blackhawks. Both players factored into the game in significant ways.

Duncan Keith got the scoring going in the first with what would have to be categorized as a soft goal by Jonathan Quick. Keith fired off a slap shot just inside the Kings blue line that squeaked through Quick’s pads into the net.

Quick seemed to make another misjudg...

Are the Kings Done?

According to Twitter and the rest of the Internet one thing has become certain: An original six Stanley Cup Final is inevitable. The 2011 Stanley Cup Bruins will face the 2010 Stanley Cup Blackhawks in what is to be a truly remarkable championship. The only problem of course is that Chicago has not finished the Kings and won the Campbell Bowl.

I’m a fan of Twitter and think it’s a great platform for news, smack talk, and enjoying the moment with people you’ve never met. The only problem is how short sighted and visceral tweeting has become. You’d think that the Chicago fan base more than any other would understand that a 3-1 series lead is not necessarily ins...

Blackhawks take 3-1 series lead with 3-2 Game 4 win

With the Blackhawks out of Duncan Keith's services for the evening on Thursday night, other players were going to have to step up in a big way.

Unfortunately for Sheldon Brookbank, he wasn't the solution, going -2 and logging just 6:50 of ice time. In comparison, the only forward even close to him in minutes was Viktor Stalberg at 8:47.

However, Johnny Oduya, Michal Rozsival, and Niklas Hjalmarsson were very noticeable in a good way for the game, making up for the missing Keith. Between them, they were +4 with 3 assists, 4 hits and 4 blocked shots.

Once again, the Kings were first on the board, with a goal by Slava Voynov just 3:28 into the ...

Game three of the Western Conference Finals moves to the West Coast as the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Los Angeles Kings.

Last time out, the Blackhawks got the better of the defending Stanley Cup champions in game two by a score of 4-2. Goals were scored by Andrew Shaw, Brent Seabrook,Bryan Bickell and Michal Handzus.

In terms of tonight’s game three, expect a rough and tumble affair between these two teams. Game two was especially physical as both teams combined for ten penalties. Also expect a raucous Staples Center. The fans will be ready help the Kings get back in the series anyway they can. The Kings have not ...

Blackhawks jump out to 2-0 series lead with 4-2 win

As of tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks have now won five straight games in the playoffs. It's not the same streak as the one that started the season, but it's certainly one that they'll take, because it means they're off to a 2-0 start in the Western Conference Final.

It didn't take long for the Blackhawks to score in game 2; Andrew Shaw dented the twine just 1:56 into the first. The Blackhawks took two penalties during the period, but the Kings couldn't convert, even while outshooting Chicago 13-9. Brent Seabrook hammered in a second goal with 51 seconds remaining in the first to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead.

Los Angeles never caught up. Bry...
