The Flyers kept shooting and shooting, but Jose Theodore seemed to have an answer for everything.

Theodore stopped 30 shots, including both of the Flyers' shootout attempts in the Panthers' 3-2 win in Philadelphia. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Flyers, but they have earned a point in each of their last three games.

Theodore came up huge in the last two periods and overtime, stopping the last 19 shots he faced to preserve the come-back win.

Only a handful of hats decorated the ice at the BB&T Center in Florida during the third period.

To Matt Read it didn't matter if it was 10 hats or 1,000 hats. His hat trick helped spark the Flyers in their 7-1 rout over the Florida Panthers Saturday.

All it took for Read was three well-timed, well-placed shots for him to net the first hat trick of his career. His offensive outburst couldn't have come at a better time for the Flyers, who had scored only five goals in their first four games of the season.

Flyers Blue Line Shines In Panthers Rout

The best way to get goals is by throwing the puck on net.

That message finally sunk in at the blue line, and the Flyers offense erupted to rout the Florida Panthers, 7-1, Saturday night.

Luke Schenn was arguably the most impressive player on the ice in the win. Schenn scored on a slap shot from the point, registered an assist and added a booming team-high 11 hits.

The Florida Panthers may have been a little overexcited to be in the playoffs for the first time in 12 years - 12 years to the day that they last went to the playoffs, in fact. At least, that's what their first-period play looked like, and they had relatively little offensive against the Devils.

New Jersey put up 26 SOG against Jose Theodore - who gave up 3 goals - while the Panthers didn't even break double digits. The first was Patrik Elias at 6:31; the second was a power play goal by Dainius Zubrus at 14:11, and the third was Ryan Carter at 14:56. In Philadelphia, spring is in the air you can hear the birds sing during the day and the crickets chirp at night. The weather is starting to warm up now, Major League Baseball's spring training has already begun and the Philadelphia Flyers are getting in playoff mode.

The feeling arrived this weekend during back-to back matinee games starting with the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.

Clawing Apart, Isles Lose 4-1 To Panthers

The New York Islanders went into today's game looking to complete a back-to-back sweep on the weekend, taking a total of four points to increase their hopes of a playoff berth for the first time in a long time. But the Isles would end up losing 4-1 to the Florida Panthers, putting a dent into their never ending climb up the standings.

The loss keeps them eight points out of the playoffs; not an impossible number to climb, but one that seems to grow larger with every loss, especially against opponents like the Panthers who are looking to accomplish the same goal.

Frans Nielsen would get things started with an early goal assisted by P.A. Parenteau and Andrew MacDonald. Nielsen wisely cut across the neutral zone to be met by a perfect pass from Parenteau. He would then walk in and snipe one over Jose Theodore's glove to give his team the early lead.
