Lidstrom. Datsyuk. Howard. Bertuzzi. Ericsson. Kindl. Eaves. All banged up. Can the Detroit Red Wings win another Stanley Cup with their best defenseman, forward, and goalie out? Up until this point in the season, the Wings have been relatively healthy and have definitely played like it. Now, we are at a point where the “law of averages” has kicked in, and the once healthy Red Wings are starting to pile up injuries. Maybe the better question is, can the Wings win their division?
The Red Wings may play next with seven starters out of the lineup. That’s scary, even if we are talking about the 2002 Red Wings. Is this team getting old? Does Mike Babcock run them too ha...
A rough loss for the Detroit Red Wings against the New York Islanders.
The Detroit Red Wings were seriously outplayed in the first period. The Wings were not able to capitalize on their first power play. With about two minutes left in the period, Stuart got a two minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and a two minute roughing penalty. On that power play, Moulson had a power play goal. The Wings ended on a power play, trailing 1 to 0. SOG: 17 Islanders vs 8 Wings.
The second period was dominated in shots by the Wings, but lead in goals by the Islanders. Tavares, Okposo, and Grabner all managed to get wri...
A beautiful win for the Detroit Red Wings! A 3 to 0 shutout for Jimmy Howard against the Saint Louis Blues to lead Detroit to their 12th home game win.
First Period: The first period was eventful, but not on the scoreboard. The Wings and Blues went through the entire period without scoring. The second penalty the Blues received was to Cole for a rough elbow to Abdelkader’s face. Abdelkader fell, got up and fell again. He appeared listless and headed to the “quiet” room to be evaluated for concussion-like symptoms. The period ended 0 to 0 between the two teams. SOG: Tied at 10 to 10.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings put on sixty minutes of playoff-like hockey in front of a season high 22,166 at the United Center Friday night and the Hawks prevailed in the end with a 3-2 victory.
For sixty minutes, it seemed as though the only stoppages in play were for the two intermissions. The game opened with five or six minutes of continuous, back-and-forth action before the first whistle was ever blown.
Justin Abdelkader gave the Red Wings the early lead half-way through the first period after a big rebound was given up by Hawks goalie Corey Crawford. It seemed to sit there in the slot forever after the initial Drew Miller ...

First Period: The first period started very physical between the two teams. We even saw a fight from Bertuzzi and Carcillo. The first goal came after 9 minutes of play to the Red Wings. Abdelkader scored a goal with an assist from Miller. Only 5 minutes later, Toews headed towards the net and the refs made a terrible hooking call to Lidstrӧm, giving Toews a penalty shot. The penalty shot turned into a goal that tied the game. The Wings had the...
