Flyers Break Shootout Win Drought, Take Down Panthers 3-2

The Flyers have finally broken the shootout victory drought.

In a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, Sergei Bobrovsky didn’t allow the opposing team a goal in the shootout, and Claude Giroux scored the winner on his team’s second attempt.

It was the fourth game this season, and the second in a row, where the outcome of a Flyers game was decided in the shootout.

As he has in so many games this season, Sergei Bobrovsky came up big in this one.

The Philadelphia Flyers (28-14-5) head down to Florida to face the Florida Panthers tonight in what will be their last game before the All-Star break.

He was the last of the Cup winners to play against the Blackhawks and had to wait until this season to do it - a November 3 Chicago shootout win at Sunrise. And particularly in light of his current season, where he is one of the Panthers'...

The Blackhawks' early view atop the Western conference

The week ahead for the Chicago Blackhawks is going to be a trial-by-fire before they hit the road for their annual "Circus Trip", the two-week road trip that marks every November. It kicks off with the first of two season games against the Florida Panthers (the second will be on United Center ice in late January), followed by a game at Tampa Bay, then it's back home for the first matchup of the season against the Vancouver Canucks.

In light of the trade moves made by Chicago and the free agency signings by Florida this summer, Thurday's Blackhawks-Panthers matchup in Sunrise is a game that many fans on both sides of the ice ...

Clarke MacArthur is One Sharp Player

Rebuilding a team doesn’t have a set blueprint for organizations to follow. There are a variety of ways organizations attempt to transform themselves from chumps to champs. However none of these paths succeed without a big assist from lady luck.

Every team that takes that step has a player they took a flyer on become a revelation. For example, I...

As the days march on towards Opening Night, and the bulk of trades and free agency acquisitions have been completed; the Draft and prospect camps are over; and the opening of Training Camps are still a few weeks away; as the weeks left until the new season drop into the single digits, there's one date circled on every fan's calendar to make it through the August doldrums: the date that their team's tickets go on sale.
