Isles Blow Third Period Lead, Lose 5-3 To Panthers

The New York Islanders played host to the Florida Panthers this afternoon, looking to redeem themselves after a very embarrassing 6-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils yesterday afternoon. To the Isles' dismay, that would not be the case as they squandered a two-goal lead in the third period to lose to the Panthers by a score of 5-3.

The first day of the new month was one the Islanders would like to forget having been defeated 5-1 by the New Jersey Devils at home this afternoon. The game was overall a poor performance and one like this that hasn’t been seen from the Islanders in almost two months.

Garth Should Pay The Fans Back Not IOC

Garth Snow must take responsibility for the teams poor performance this season. JT getting hurt did not ruin the year, the roster that he assembled proved to be a unit that could not win enough to be competitive, so before he proclaims others must pay back season ticket holders, he should look at himself in the mirror.

Flyers Falter In Third Period to Islanders

The Flyers blew a 3-1 lead in the third period, dropping in a shootout to the Islanders, 4-3, Monday afternoon.

The way the first two periods were going, the Flyers were on track for a strong two-point effort to cap the home-and-home with New York. But sluggish play in the third in which they were out-shot 17-3 resulted in a pair goals to tie the game.

Bad penalties caused the Flyers to be exhausted and short-handed much of the period. The Islanders got three power plays in the period and capitalized on the final one.

The first period saw plenty of hits and fights between both sides. Matt Carkner fought Jay Rosehill just inside the Isles blue line, resulting in a win for the home team. Just a few minutes later, Kyle Okposo would drop the mitts with Braydon Coburn inside the Flyers zone. Not many punches were thrown, but KO would get the take down, allowing the Minnesota native to be showered with USA chants as he headed to the Isles penalty box.

It has become incredibly clear that no matter what Garth Snow does this season it will either be hit or miss, home run or strike out, black or white. There has been no gray area for the 8 year Islander General Manager and finally his decisions appear to be trending in the right direction for the team again.
