Islanders Host Blue Jackets in Sunday Matinee

The Islanders look to finish up their homestand Sunday afternoon on a high note as they take on their Metropolitan rival Columbus Blue Jackets 1pm at the Nassau Coliseum. It will be the third of four matchups as Columbus has taken the first two, including the Islanders’ home opener. In what was a sign for things to come, the Islanders blew a 2-0 third period lead before falling to Columbus in the shootout 3-2. Isles Blow Third Period Lead, Lose 5-3 To Panthers

The New York Islanders played host to the Florida Panthers this afternoon, looking to redeem themselves after a very embarrassing 6-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils yesterday afternoon. NEW YORK ISLANDERS FANS v. JACK CAPUANO

Where Do The Islanders Go Next?

As the annual Thanksgiving week home stand approaches, the state of the Islanders is not what fans had expected at this point into the season. After last night’s 5-2 loss to the Flyers, the team now sits at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division looking to find any way possible to recover from this recent skid.

Injuries Taking A Toll, Visnovsky Missed On The Power Play And The Importance Of The AHL

With injuries to key players such as Lubomir Visnovsky, Thomas Vanek and Evgeni Nabokov, the New York Islanders are struggling in more ways than one. Their power play is ineffective, the defense is porous and they cant string together a streak of wins no matter what they do. Different players stepping up to lead and the youth in Bridgeport being ready to contribute could be the difference for the Islanders playoff aspirations this season.
