Hawks look to find groove against Predators

After a disappointing loss in Colorado on Wednesday, the Hawks are looking to get back on track as they host the Nashville Predators on Friday night.  Both teams have struggled as they’ve returned from the Olympic break, but the Predators have won their last two games, scoring four goals in each contest.  They roll into Chicago on the last leg of a three-game trip, and while they’re currently eight points out of a playoff spot, they’re still a threat to the defending Stanley Cup champs.

Blackhawks 5-2 win over Canucks gives Quenneville new record

With the Blackhawks' victory in Vancouver on Wednesday night, head coach Joel Quenneville became the NHL's 3rd-winningest coach in league history. To even coach 693 games at the NHL level is an achievement; to win that many, even more so.

At first, it looked like the game versus Vancouver would delay reaching that coaching milestone by another game or two.

The Canucks scored just 16 seconds into the game on a backhand shot by Chris Higgins. Tom Sestito would stretch the lead to 2-0 Vancouver

But once the Blackhawks got on the board, there was no stopping them.

Hawks burn out in OT; face Canucks Wednesday

The Hawks continued a disturbing trend of taking games to OT and not being able to collect the extra point as they fell to the Calgary Flames in overtime to kick off a 6-game road trip.  Both starting goalies were pulled as the points racked up, but the Flames would ultimately emerge victorious as the Hawks dropped their fourth game in a row.

The Flames would get on the board early with a backhan...

Hawks fall to Wings in SO; face division-rival Wild Thursday

The Red Wings and the Blackhawks met again on Wednesday night, and though the two teams are now in different conferences and meet just twice a year, the rivalry was as intense as ever. The Red Wings came from behind to secure the win in a thrilling 5-4 SO victory, with Darren Helm scoring the deciding goal in the shootout.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead at 8:41 of the first, when Marian ...

Hawks and Bruins to face off in Stanley Cup rematch

The Blackhawks (31-8-11) are fresh off of a much-needed win against the red-hot Ducks, but they won’t get much rest before turning around to face the Boston Bruins (30-15-2) in a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup final.  This will be the teams’ first meeting since the Hawks scored twice in 17 seconds to win the cup June 24th, 2013.

The Hawks, despite giving up a 3-0 lead on Fri...

Blackhawks best the Ducks 4-2

If there is anything that can break a team out of a slump and midseason doldrums it’s beating the best team in the NHL at least statistically, and that is exactly what the Hawks did. In a couple of recent games the Hawks may have been out worked but not on this night.

The Hawks proved once again that they can not only play with the best they can come out on top and are in fact the best until they are dethroned. This game was important for the Hawks for several reasons. They needed to show that they can work the boards with the best of them. The game was virtually a four point game in the Western Conference Standings and closed the gap between the two teams. Lastly, the Anaheim...

Hawks bounce back, sweep season series with Edmonton

In their second game in two nights, the Hawks bounced back from a tough 2-1 OT loss against Montreal to win their third game against the Oilers to sweet the season series 5-3.  Antti Raanta made 18 saves to improve to 12-1-3, and the Hawks scored five goals on 41 shots, including a power play goal.

The Oilers, fresh off a come-from-behind victory against the Penguins, played well in the beginning...

Hawks downed by Habs in OT; face Oilers at home Sunday night

In an exciting matchup between two Original Six teams, Corey Crawford was stellar, stopping 36 shots as the Hawks managed to earn a point against the Montreal Canadiens.

Andrei Markov would be the only Canadien to score, tallying both of Montreal’s goals while Marian Hossa scored the lone goal for Chicago.

Hawks defeat Predators as PP keeps rolling

The Hawks looked to keep rolling as they travelled to Nashville to face off against the Predators and former Hawks Carter Hutton and Viktor Stalberg.  The last time the Hawks played in the Nashville rink this season, they were thoroughly beaten 7-2, but tonight walked away with a 3-1 win.  Bryan Bickell made his return after missing roughly a month with a lower body injury, while Antti Raanta made 27 saves and Patrick Kane scored his team-leading 20th goal in the victory.

The Hawks got on the board early with a wicked shot by Duncan K...

13 Hawks earn points in dominant victory over Flyers

Philadelphia came to Chicago tonight looking for a game against one of the league’s top teams to use as a measuring stick for their own success.  After an embarrassing 7-2 thumping by the Hawks, they may want to reconsider that statement.  13 Blackhawk players would finish the game with at least a point, and Antti Raanta finished with a .933 SV%, proving yet again that he is a very capable goaltender.  Ray Emery, who started against his former team, would allow six goals on 18 shots.

The game got off to a rough start right away, when Sheldon Brookbank and Wayne Simmonds dropped the glove a...
