Pregame 2/6/14: Islanders vs. Flames

The Islanders return home after a short two game road trip as the final week of play before the Olympic break continues tonight against the Calgary Flames.

Game Preview: Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

The Flames are right back at it tonight with the Anaheim Ducks in town as the Flames finish off rare back-to-back home games to open their shortened 2013 season. The Flames will look for their first win of the season after a disappointing 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks last night at the Dome. The Ducks on the other hand come into Calgary after a great start in Vancouver, beating the Canucks 7-3 to add to the Canucks never ending goaltending questions. This will be the first of three meetings between the teams this season.

Wings Put Out The Flames With A Win In Calgary

Yes, the title was an intended, unoriginal, funny pun. The Detroit Red Wings did "put out" the Flames and got back on track with their victory over Calgary!

First Period: The first period seemed to contain more physical play by Calgary. Jackman and Commodore both received a five minute penalty for fighting with four minutes left in the first. The fight was started because of a hip hit from Commodore to Jackman. But that wasn’t the beginning of the physical hits between the two teams, especially on Calgary’s part.
