Isles Defeat Devils 3-1 In Front of Sold Out Crowd

The New York Islanders played in a packed house filled with two fan bases that were seething with animosity towards one another. In previous years, a visiting division rival fan base would overtake the Coliseum and diminish most “Let’s Go Islanders” chants.

Not this year.

On a night where the team was honoring Islanders legend, Denis Potvin, Isles fans quickly extinguished the chants from New Jersey fans and drowned out their support (as well as throw in many other chants as well) with ease as the home team fought for a 3-1 victory in front of a sold out Nassau Coliseum crowd.

Post Game Report 10/4/13: Islanders Win Season Opener in Shootout 4-3

A new season, a new beginning as the Islanders began the 2013-2014 season. This is their first as a member of the new Metropolitan Division begun in Newark, NJ against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center Friday night. This was the first game of the season for the Islanders while the Devils were playing the back end of a back to back coming off a 3-0 loss last night on the road to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Isles Files: A Look Ahead To Free Agency

At most, the 2013 NHL season has two games remaining. The Chicago Blackhawks have the opportunity to send the Boston Bruins home without any new hardware, as a win tonight would make them this year's Stanley Cup Champions.

With that being said, the New York Islanders organization has been preparing for the NHL Entry draft, as well as free agency.

As we jump ahead to July 5th, there are a handful of players that the Islanders might consider for the 2013-2014 roster that may make them a better contending team for next season's playoff run.

Habs Ship Erik Cole To Dallas For Mature Ryder, Cap Flexibility

On Tuesday evening, we finally saw the big differences between the current Montreal Canadians administration, and the ones that fans had been subjected to over the last decade. As most of you were probably driving home from work, the team announced a trade which would send Erik Cole to the Dallas Stars in exchange for former Hab Michael Ryder (Cole waived his no-trade clause to complete the deal). At a glance, a lot of people probably cringed at the thought of Ryder returning to his old stomping grounds, because much like Michel Therrien, he represents the old guard, maybe even everything that had been wrong with this organization. But when you delve a little further into i...

Game Preview: Blackhawks in Dallas

January 24, 2013

7:30PM

CHI @ DAL (GAME PREVIEW)

The undefeated Chicago Blackhawks are back on the road to defend their perfect season start.  For the first time in 40 years, the Hawks have a 3 - 0 - 0 record, and the Dallas Stars are gearing up to try and take that streak away.

But it won’t be easy for the Stars to shine on Thur...

Stars fall short once again

It is a pretty frustrating time to be a Dallas Stars fan at the moment. A few weeks ago, things were looking bright as the Stars sat on top of the Pacific division for a while and a playoff spot looked highly likely. However, they finished the 2011/12 season with 5 losses, resulting in no playoff hockey for 3 straight seasons.

I can’t help but feel that it is time for a bit of change in Dallas. Brenden Morrow has done great things for the franchise, but this season has showed why his NHL career is coming to an end. He has picking up more and more injuries and has lost the great physical edge that he brought to the Stars' game for many years. Morrow still holds a decent val...

Wings make history in near-perfect fashion

The Red Wings can downplay it all they want, but last night was one for the ages.

The Wings did, what nobody has been able to accomplish in NHL, win 21 consecutive games on home ice.

"We're thrilled this has happened for our team," coach Mike Babcock said. "I think it's really good for our logo, it's really good for our ownership, our team. I'm proud of the guys. They've worked hard and now let's get on with it."

What originally seemed to look like a potentially close match up, was handled with a bit of dominance on the part of the Wings. The first stat to look at is the penalties, where the Wings only had three of ten total in...

Stars show sublime offense in Anaheim

With Jamie Benn being the lone representative of the Stars at the all-star game in Ottawa, the rest of the team enjoyed a much-needed break. The week off allowed the Stars to shake off all of the injuries that they had, meaning they went into the game against their divisional rivals with a full strength team.

The Ducks produced a convincing 4-1 victory over the Coyotes on Tuesday night as they looked to continue their great form of late by beating a fresh Stars team. The first few minutes of the game turned out to be all about the Stars, as some awesome puck movement allowed some great chances at goal, with Benn coming agonisingly close a few minutes in.

However, against the r...

A Team Desperate To Shine

The Detroit Red Wings made history last night as they set a new franchise record for consecutive home wins, which is very telling about their performance this season.

In a dominating display of both offense and defense, the Wings have extended their win streak at the Joe to 15 games. Jimmy Howard earned his fifth shut out of the season and Pavel Datsyuk earned his 700th career point. Last night's victory does not reflect the team's lackluster road performance though.

"We haven't done as well as want on the road," said Jimmy Howard after last night's win against Buffalo.

The Wings are only 11-13-0 on the road this season, which ...

Impressive Jamie Benn helps Stars to victory

It was all about young Canadian Jamie Benn in Texas this afternoon as he scored twice to help the Stars overcome the struggling Edmonton Oilers 4-1. Benn has hit a great run of form lately and is now seen as one of the best centres in the NHL by many. Rookie Richard Bachman got his first start in net for the Stars since Kari Lehtonen returned from injury.

After the Oilers absorbed some early pressure from the Stars on a great first shift, the opening the period turned out to be quite an even one. Edmonton had a good final few minutes in the first frame and they got a one goal lead as Taylor Hall somehow got a shot to loop agonisingly over the top of Bachman and into the net. With 9 ...
