Cammalleri ties it late; Flames get point

The Flames salvaged a point out of the Stars and Mike Cammalleri was a big help.

The Flames now sit two points back of both the Coyotes and the Kings, who they play on Saturday night, for the 8th and final playoff spot

Game Preview: Flames vs Toronto Maple Leafs

On a busy 9-game schedule in the NHL, no game could be more important than tonight’s match-up between the Flames and Leafs. Both teams are battling for the last playoff positions in their respective conferences, as the Leafs currently sit 8th in the East while the Flames are trying to gain ground on the 8th place Phoenix Coyotes, sitting 3 points back. Tonight will be the second and final meeting between the clubs as the Leafs took the first game back on October 15th at the Air Canada Centre, 3-2.

Flames Don't Like Disneyland

The Flames streak of losing in Disneyland continued as they fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Ducks.

Despite having a PP in the last half of the third, and glorious opportunities in the OT and the shootout, they still came up short.

They got one point, but desperately needed another.

Blackhawks burned by Flames in 3-1 loss

Going into tonight’s game I was hoping to see an improved defensive performance from the horrid game against Edmonton the night before. I think every Blackhawks fan was looking for answers after the Oilers game.  How would the Blackhawks respond? With the quick turnaround I wasn’t quite sure if we would see a tired drained Hawks team or an invigorated team looking for a little payback.

In the first week of the nine game three week road stretch to say this Canadian trip has not started the way the Blackhawks would have liked is an understatement.  Coming into this game out of a possible four points against Western Conference opponents the Hawks only garnered one...

Making the Case: Three Reasons Why the Flames Will or Won’t Make the NHL Playoffs

Will the Flames make the playoffs or not?

Flames bloggers Greger Buer and Brad Windsor give differing opinions as to where the Flames will be come mid- April.

Wings dispose of Flames

The Flames continue to have trouble scoring goals as they lost for the second straight game at home and the second straight in regulation, failing to register any points.

The 3-1 loss to the Red Wings means the Flames have now scored one goal or less in 6 of their 7 games.

Flames shut out by Sharks

The Flames head into the All Star break by losing 1-0 to the San Jose Sharks.

Through 50 games they sit in exactly the same position as last season.

Will this year be any different? Come and find out

Flames Pound Oilers...AGAIN

How sweet a feeling it is to beat the living crap out of the Edmonton Oilers!

Even more so after I gave my frank opinion of where the Oilers actually sit in this so called "rebuild."

It was a great weekend to be a Flames fan!

Calgary Flames: Fall to Sharks in Shootout

Failing to take advantage of a great effort from goalie on out and failing to take advantage of a bad ‘non goal’ against the San Jose Sharks in OT, the Flames fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Sharks to kick off a three game road trip.

The Flames have a lot of positives to take out of tonight's effort however and will look to take those into Thursday's tilt with the Kings.

The Calgary Flames: Mid Season Report

By Derrick Newman 40 games into the 2011-12 season the Calgary Flames are hovering in 12th place in the Western Conference two points back of the Dallas Stars and nine points back of the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the Northwest division. Now, the idea of winning the division at the beginning of the season was a pipe dream with the likes of defending Western Conference champion Vancouver being in the mix, and truth be told it’s about as likely to happen as Mission Impossible winning Best Picture at the Oscars. But, the idea of the Flames making the playoffs has always been a point of contention. Will they or won’t they? Well, if the ...
