San Jose Sharks Line Profiles - Top Six

The San Jose Sharks have made some noise this offseason through trades and free agency. Once again, they look to have one of the most prevalent top six forward groups in the league. Now that we know all of the Sharks' moves this summer, its time to breakdown that top six and make my predictions on point totals.

Line One: Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski

With the departure of Dany Heatley this summer to the Minnesota Wild, the door is now open for Joe Pavelski...

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }

Today, in my first TCL post, I will be reviewing the 3 trades that the Sharks have made this offseason, all of which, interestingly, have been with the Minnesota Wild.

Brent Burns and a 2nd round pick in 2012 for Devin Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle, and a 1st round pick in 2011: The Sharks kicked off the offseason with a bang on the opening day of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft when they traded Setoguchi, highly-touted ...

Flyers Trade Darroll Powe to Minnesota

The Philadelphia Flyers shocked many again Monday afternoon by trading popular forward Darroll Powe to the Minnesota Wild. Powe was not a goal scoring player exactly, but he was affordable and did exactly what he was paid to do every single game.

Every team needs guys that are going to be counted on for their penalty killing more than anything. Star players help to kill off penalties as well, but it’s not always practical for them to total up so much ice time killing penalties when they are needed for an offensively heavy role. Powe was that guy for the Flyers. Powe was a ball of energy for the Flyers. He skated hard and hit harder. You could not deny that Powe gave 110 percen...

Michigan to Take on Minny in Finals

Ben Winnett’s goal from inside the hash marks 13:26 into the first period and great defense from goaltender Shawn Hunwick, in front of 19,139 spectators on Thursday night, propelled the second seeded University of Michigan Wolverines to Saturday’s NCAA Frozen Four championship game against the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs at the Xcel Energy Center. The top-seeded University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux were considered the heavy favorite in the tournament but could not penetrate Hunwick’s stellar defense despite 40 attempts, and came out on the short end of a 2-0 shutout. Wolverine forward Scooter Vaughan scored the other goal with 36 seconds left in the contest aft...

Minnesota Bulldogs Advance to Frozen Four Final

While the Minnesota Wild are out of the playoff picture, Minny's NCAA team is. J.T. Brown had a goal and an assist to help Minnesota Duluth beat Notre Dame 4-3 in the Frozen Four on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center, propelling the Bulldogs to their second national title game in school history. Calgary's Mike Connolly, Jack Connolly and Kyle Schmidt also scored and the Bulldogs (25-10-6) survived being outshot 15-2 in the third period to get past Notre Dame (25-14-5). Ken Reiter overcame a shaky start to make 31 saves. UMD will face either Michigan or North Dakota in the championship game Saturday night. Jeff Costello, T.J. Tynan and Calle Ridderwall scored for the Fighting Irish...

Latendresse scores 4 points in Wild's win over Pittsburgh

Your move, Benoit Pouliot. I am not the biggest Latendresse fan (in fact I pretty much despise him as a player and a person), but after watching the Pens - Wild game tonight I must say he has totally changed his game in Minnesota. He seems faster and creates things on the ice. After tonight, he has 15 points in 21 games with the Wild. Impressive. Pouliot seems to be resurrecting his career with the Habs as well. Talk about a win-win trade. CAREER NIGHT BY LATENDRESSE POWERS WILD PAST PENGUINS ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Guillaume Latendresse hasn't been with the Minnesota Wild long enough for most of their fans to even memorize the spelling of his name. In a short time with h...

Up In Flames, Wild Equipment Truck Catches Fire

A truck carrying equipment for the Minnesota Wild has caught fire in the Scotiabank Place parking lot. It is unsure what has been damaged so far but it has been confirmed that goaltender Nicklas Backstrom's gear is among the destroyed equipment. It appears that most of the players equipment has also been lost to the fire. The Wild are scheduled to play the Ottawa Senators tomorrow night. The team has been in contact with the National Hockey League to see what the options are. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. The equipment van for the Minnesota Wild caught on fire this afternoon in the parking lot of Scotiabank Place in Ottawa prior to the Wild's game against the Senat...
