Blackhawks shut out again vs Wild

The Blackhawks needed to start off solidly against the MN Wild after their annual Vegas trip. They certainly didn't expect to find themselves in an 0-2 hole after just 10 minutes of play -- or to suffer their second consecutive shutout loss, the first time that has happened since 2006.

Mikko Koivu opened the scoring unassisted at 7:40 in the first period. Jason Zucker would make it 2-0 at the 10-minute mark, and Mikael Granlund would put the final nail in the coffin late in the second.

However, one goal was all they needed, as the Wild held the Blackhawks to just 24 SOG. Compare that to the Wild, who had 24 SOG in the second period alone. Usually, it's the ot...

Blackhawks beat Wild; play vs improving Oilers on Friday

The Avalanche had a "goalie win" versus the Blackhawks earlier this week; last night, Chicago did the same versus the Wild.

There's been few games this season where the Blackhawks have been held under 25 SOG; last night, they had just 20 - but 4 of them were goals, including one empty-netter.

Chicago broke the streak they were on by scoring first, for the first time in seven games, a Patrick Sharp goal 5:08 into the opening period. Patrick Kane would stretch the lead to 2-0 by the end of the period with a power play goal on Thomas Vanek's 5-minute penalty.

Jason Zucker put the Wild on the board just 1:03 into the second.

But de...

Blackhawks fall to Wild 4-3; head home to face the Ducks

For the first time this season, the Chicago Blackhawks took two losses in a row.

The Blackhawks gave up one goal to the Wild early in the first, an even-strength goal for Matt Cooke, 4:23 into the game. It would take until late in the second period for Minnesota to grab another goal, this one a power play goal by Zach Parise to make it 2-0.

Chicago was getting outshot and outworked for most of the first and second periods. The Blackhawks had just 7 shots through 27 minutes. They looked more like a team coming off a two-week road trip than a team that had a day off yesterday.

Jeremy Morin would get the Blackhawks on the board with just 17 seconds remaining ...

Blackhawks look to continue their streak against the MN Wild

Wednesday night in St. Paul, the undefeated Chicago Blackhawks will look to continue their winning ways against the "new look" Minnesota Wild.

Although the Wild is tops in the Northwest division, the team has at times struggled to find their footing.

Minnesota is 3-1-0 at home so far this season, and look to hand the Blackhawks their first loss of the year. The Wild won last night 3-2 against an aggressive, physical Columbus team at home, breaking a 3-game losing streak.

Only 5 of the Wild's 16 goals for the season have not been scored by MN's top line of team captain Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, and Dany Heatley. While the Wild may not have much scor...
