The Habs and the Senators played a spirited game in the nations capital. The Habs winning by the smallest of measures 2-1. 

The first period was a tight affair Plenty of blocked shots on both sides. One penalty on each team. There should have been a penalty shot awarded for the Habs when a Senator defenseman grabbed the puck with his hand, closed it then tossed it out of harms way. On the whole it was a very defensive period and the shots on goal were Habs 10 and Senators 4.

The Habs have beaten the Bruins for the second time in as many games in a spirited affair in the Bell Centre. The Habs opened the scoring and never looked back. They are playing a more cohesive game since the firing of Perry Pearn. 

The coaching staff is more animated and the team is playing with more life than they have played in a long while. The effort is there and they are going to the net and the results have started to come through.

The game featured some good scoring chances on both sides and some nice saves on both sides of the ice.

So, how has your week been so far?

In what can only be described as another week in Habs-land, the fans in this city have gone from having to be talked off the ledge, to pure elation, to a real glass cage of emotions that can't really be explained, in the process of no less than four days.

Backtrack to Monday night. The Canadiens had just lost their fifth game in a row, and were looking at one of, if not the worst start in the history of their organization. It didn’t take long for Pierre Gauthier to listen to fans and the media.  Something needed to be done.  Something needed to change.  Someone needed to be held accountable for the start:  the worst start in the franchise’s history. 

So 90 minutes before the game Gauthier fired assistant coach Perry Pearn.  Pearn and coach Martin go back a long way but that relationship ended tonight and that change led to the Canadiens walking over the Flyers tonight.  That is what Gauthier would want everyone to believe!
