Could a possible solution to Chicago's D-man woes be sitting in its press box?

It's well-known that the Chicago Blackhawks are shopping for at least one defensemen, although they're hardly the only team to be doing so.

A question which needs to be asked is: Is a possible solution to Chicago's defensive issues already on the team, but spending the majority of his season in the press box?

The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings put on sixty minutes of playoff-like hockey in front of a season high 22,166 at the United Center Friday night and the Hawks prevailed in the end with a 3-2 victory.

For sixty minutes, it seemed as though the only stoppages in play were for the two intermissions. The game opened with five or six minutes of continuous, back-and-forth action before the first whistle was ever blown.

Blackhawks win over struggling Sharks 3-2 in OT

 The Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks battled it out for a 0-1 game in California at Thanksgiving. Since that game, the Sharks had gone 2-5-0, including being shut out twice on the road (Kings; Blues). In the same stretch, Chicago went 5-1-1.

San Jose came into Sunday night's game as the 3rd game in 4 days, on the heels of Saturday’s 0-1 loss in St. Louis, while Chicago had only played twice in the past six days, with their last game being Thursday night on Long Island.

Given these circumstances, one might guess that Chicago would have looked like the more dominant team, not just to open the game but throughout the 60 minutes.
