Hawks top Wild late

Amid potential goalie controversies and whispers of a possible case of mumps, the Blackhawks managed to pull out a win against the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night. After a three period outburst in the second from Chicago, the Wild came back to tie it in the third before a late power play goal by Patrick Kane gave the Hawks the lead for the rest of the game. Antti Raanta, who made his second straight start, made 26 saves in the victory.

Cast Away: Former Isles Contribute To New Teams In Playoffs

Although the New York Islanders missed the playoffs this season, many players that were dressed for the team and traded made significant contributions to their new team's post-season run to the Cup (Photo credit: Michael Cummo Photography/Flickr).

Blackhawks drop game 4 to Wild; series tied 2-2

The Blackhawks continued to be stymied by the Wild in Minnesota.

While the Wild's style might not be exciting - choking defense that slows the other team - it's working. The Wild also have some young guns who have been showing why Minnesota made it into the playoffs, and why they'll be challenging things in the Central division in the years to come.

The first goal of the night came from Justin Fontaine, his first goal of the playoffs, to make it 1-0 Wild, 7:24 into the first. It would take most of the first period, but Patrick Sharp got the Blackhawks on the board with 39 seconds left in the first period with a five-hole goal.

Sound Tigers Update 2/5/2014

The Sound Tigers have gone 5-1-0 in their last 6 games, continuing their up and down trend that has gone on all season long. A lack of identity could be the cause of the inconsistency but there are some bright spots to take note of in Bridgeport.

When Does Anders Lee Get His Chance?

With Ryan Strome now a permanent fixture with the Islanders, the main focus of the prospect pool turns to Anders Lee. Lee has been quietly productive for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and is the team point leader among players currently on the Sound Tigers' roster. So when will Anders Lee get his chance to prove himself in the NHL?

Has It Been Snowing On The Island For Too Long?

The 2013-2014 New York Islanders season was filled with hope and promise long before it even began thanks to a spirited playoff run last year against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Optimism filled the island with high expectations and preparation for a year that would see the Isles return to playoff glory and even better position in the standings (Photo credit: Official New York Islanders/Flickr).

Sadly, things are looking quite the opposite with each game that passes.

One-on-One With Cal Clutterbuck

At this year's 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the New York Islanders traded Nino Niederreiter, one of their top prospects, to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a draft pick and Cal Clutterbuck; a 5'11" and 213 pound forward that is known for delivering devastating body checks and sticking up for his teammates (Photo credit: SWP2011/Flickr).

He has also been able to contribute offensively over the years, scoring 15 goals in 2012 and 19 goals in 2011.

Clutterbuck called me this afternoon to discuss the trade from Minnesota, his previous ties to the Islanders, what fans can expect out of him on a nightly basis and more.
