The first player that will be looked at in the new revamped ‘Where Are They Now’ is Brad Isbister. For those who don’t remember Isbister was apart of the Islanders team that finished 5th in the Eastern Conference and lost in seven games to the Maple Leafs in 2001-2002 season.

Isbister was drafted in the 3rd (67th overall) 1995 NHL draft by the Winnipeg Jets; this was the same draft the Islanders selected Wade Redden then moved him in a package to the Ottawa Senators for the 1st overall pick in 1995 Bryan Berard.

Ottawa Senators fans will miss Nick Foligno. He is a heart and soul player who gave everything he had for the club. He has a great personality in the locker room, and could be called upon in all situations.

But, Senators fan will love Mark Methot. Methot is the type of shut-down, hard-nosed defenseman Ottawa has been missing since the A-Train (Anton Volchenkov) left to free agency. He blocks shots, starts against top competition, and frequently penalty kills and has defensive-zone starts.

The biggest sports team in Canada's capital city will be looking to make a huge splash on Canada Day.

The Ottawa Senators will definitely be looking for help on defense. None of their defensive prospects look ready to make the jump to the NHL, so Senators general manager Bryan Murray will be looking to add help through free agency.

The team has not re-signed UFAs Matt Carkner, Matt Gilroy and Filip Kuba. It is likely the team will bring back Carkner, but not the others. It is curious that Kuba was not brought back considering how well he played alongside Norris-winner Erik Karlsson.

It is always difficult to predict which skater a team will draft.

The Ottawa Senators draft in the 15th spot, which is a fairly strong draft pick.

Consider the Senators drafted Erik Karlsson, this year's Norris Trophy winner, with the 15th overall pick in 2008.

The draft looks to be strong on defensemen, which works out well for the Senators.

The first thing I thought when I read the email title, "A Message from Eugene Melnyk," was SPAM.

It turns out it actually was a message from Melnyk.

No, not a private message - we are not on those terms - but a message from Melnyk out to all Ottawa Senators fans highlighting the 20th year of the Senators' existence.

The timing could not be better for it as the awards nominations are announced and several Senators have found their names mentioned.

Paul Maclean is up for coach of the year (no brainer), Daniel Alfredsson is up for perseverence, and Erik Karlsson is up for best defenseman of the league. Mind-boggling year for the Senators.

Being eliminated in game seven is always heart-breaking, even if you weren't supposed to be there in the first place.

The Ottawa Senators were not picked to make the playoffs by anyone save delusional fans, and have had what can only be called a stellar season. The team was selecting by many pundits, analysts, writers, bloggers, and even fans to finish in the bottom two in the conference. I predicted tenth place, which was still outside of the playoffs.

It seemed hard times were on the way for the Ottawa Senators when captain Daniel Alfredsson was gooned by Carl Hagelin.

The truth is far from the specularion, as the Senators have won two games in a row in two tight-checking affairs.
