Post Game Report 11/12/13: Islanders Snap Losing Streak, Defeat Predators 3-1 at Home

After a winless road trip, the Islanders returned home to Nassau Coliseum on Tuesday night for their second and final meeting of the season with the Nashville Predators. The first meeting was a Predators 3-2 victory last month. Tonight a different story as the Islanders snapped their 4 game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Predators on home ice.

Game Preview: Flames vs Nashville Predators

The Flames will look for their sixth straight win at the Dome tonight when they host the Nashville Predators. The Flames are coming off a huge third period against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday that saw them score three goals on their way to a 5-2 victory. The Preds come into town for the second game of a back-to-back after losing 7-4 to the Canucks last night in Vancouver.

Detroit Cannot Prey On Pekka Rinne

Detroit falls short yet again in a loss against the Nashville Predators last night. Is the missing players hurting the Wings or is it more than that? Let’s evaluate the game.

The game started really well. The Wings came out really strong and played very aggressive. They ended the period trailing the Predators by one, but the playing style definitely did not reflect that. The Wings lead shots on goal 9 to 8. The first goal came from a wrist shot by Patric Hornqvist 7:30 into the first period. Gustav Nyquist had a bad give away and David Legwand took advantage of it. Legwand had a quick pass to Hornqvist, who scored the goal. Only 13 seconds af...

Kings Stifled by Predators, Lose 2-1

The Kings had previously recorded four goals last Wednesday night against Colorado, an offensive output which they have only eclipsed three other times all season long. On this night however, inconsistency reared its ugly head once again as the team netted only one in a 2-1 loss against the Nashville Predators.

Of course, it certainly didn’t hurt the Predators to place Pekka Rinne between the pipes for one of his finest performances of the season. The Finnish goaltend...

Nashville’s own Kid Line

While many people in the hockey world know of the kid line in Edmonton featuring Jordna Eberle, Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, there may be another one on the rise in Nashville.

Hornqvist, Smith and Wilson have combined to become Nashville’s top line since David  Legwand was injured two games ago and has performed quite well together in those games. While not as young as the Oilers line, the oldest of the trio is Hornqvist at 24, while both Smith and Wilson are 22.

While they aren’t exactly straight out of the draft, none have a ton of NHL experience, the most being Hornqvist who has played 202 regular season game and being in only his 3rd complete seaso...

Game Day: Nashville Predators @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes' second game in two nights will see them host the Nashville Predators at Jobing.com Arena as of 7:00 p.m., Arizona time.  Last night the Coyotes won their third game in the row at the expense of the Colorado Avalanche and with 39 saves from their goaltender, Mike Smith.  Phoenix won the last game they played against Nashville by a count of 5-2.

"We gave up a lot of shots tonight and we didn't play as well as we would have liked, but our goaltender hung in there and battled hard for us, and we found enough (offense) to win." - Dave Tippett [1]

Game Day: Phoenix Coyotes @ Nashville Predators

In what will be their last game before the much-awaited home opener against the Winnipeg Jets, the Phoenix Coyotes will first look to rebound from a 2-1 shootout loss in Dallas that saw them open the scoring in the third period before Loui Eriksson tied things up with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation.  Despite this, the Coyotes looked much stronger than their first outing against San Jose and managed to outshoot their opponents 41-25.

Nashville won't be an easy opponent, as the young but feisty Predators remain undefeated thanks to their goaltender, Pekka Rinne, who has allowed but four goals in both his team's wins.  Their p...
