Blackhawks Trounce Coyotes in Phoenix

The Chicago Blackhawks continued to prove that they are an elite contender Thursday night at Jobing Arena when they trounced the Phoenix Coyotes by a score of 6-2 and improved to 9-0-2 on the season.

Patrick Kane scored two goals and added a helper and Chicago got a solid performance from netminder Ray Emery as he stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced. Patrick Sharp finished the night with three assists for the Hawks.

Many expected the game to not only be a chippy one, but one filled with yearning for revenge by...

Blackhawks Outlast Sharks at The Tank

The Chicago Blackhawks maintained their impressive season start with a 5-3 nail biter of a win against the rival Sharks at the HP Pavilion at San Jose on Tuesday night.

Chicago rookie Brandon Saad scored his first career goal, Corey Crawford settled in by stopping 30 of 33 shots on net and the Blackhawks improved to 8-0-2 on the year, good for first place in the NHL.

The first period was a whirlwind of an affair with both teams scoring in bunches to set what ended up remaining a gritty and intense battle b...

Hawks snatch one from Calgary in 3-2 shootout win

The Blackhawks came out of Calgary with a win that they had no business winning but isn’t that what great teams do? They literally snatched a win for what certainly should have been defeat. While they were doing that, back in Chicago and Blackhawks fans everywhere were going through just about as many heart palpations as Ray Emery had logic defying moves.

The Blackhawks came into the Saddledome road weary with having played in Vancouver just 24 hours earlier to face a rested and motivated Calgary Flames. Luckily for the Blackhawks they packed their Ray Bans because it was Ray Emery banning almost everything from the Hawks net.

Blackhawks come up short in SO 2-1

In what was an unusually calm Blackhawks/Canucks tilt, the Blackhawks despite not playing their best still collected a point on the road. Even the Rogers arena crowd seemed pretty subdued except for when Duncan Keith had the puck and a chorus of boos echoed the building.

There were not any incidents, fights or really even any confrontations. Both teams seemed really focused on just picking up points and collecting a win.

For as much as we would like to send Roberto Luongo into stages of self doubt and lost confidence he played brilliantly against the Hawks big guns particularly in the shoot out.

The Hawks never really were able to sustain much pressure on hi...

Blackhawks beat Blue Jackets 3-2; extend winning streak to five

It wasn't their prettiest win of the season, but the Chicago Blackhawks played well enough to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 in a physical game on Saturday night. Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford played another strong game en route to his fourth win of the season, stopping 24 shots on 26 attempts. Columbus started fast against their Central Division rival, controlling play for much of the first period as they outshot Chicago 8-1 over the first ten minutes. Their early tenacity was rewarded when Blue Jackets forward Mark Letestu opened the scoring at the tail end of their first power play on a mad scramble in front of the net. After a flurry of in-close sa...

Blackhawks rally past Stars; remain undefeated

Marian Hossa scored his fifth goal of the season in the form of an overtime game-winner as the Chicago Blackhawks rallied from two goals down to defeat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Thursday night. Hossa’s goal came on Chicago’s seventh power play of the night off a beautiful behind-the-back backhand feed from Patrick Kane, pushing the team’s record to a league-best 4-0-0.

For a while it looked as though Chicago might not be able to solve Dallas net-minder Kari Lehtonen, as the Finnish-born former Thrasher frustrated one attempt after another from the Blackhawks as they outshot the Stars 12-6 in the first period to no avail.

Compounding matters was Dal...

Blackhawks wrap up the Opening Night hat trick with home opener win to go 3-0-0

The Chicago Blackhawks completed the Opening Night hat trick, securing their their win in a row in the third home opener they participated in -- this time, on home ice at the United Center in Chicago.

Before an opening night crowd of 21,455 - the largest opening night crowd in the NHL this season - the Blackhawks had a 3-0 lead and it looked like they might get their first shut out in nearly two years. However, St. Louis managed a late rally, scoring twice in the third period, to keep the game close.

Patrick Kane started the scoring at 7:20 into the first period. It was another 21 minutes before anyone would tally again; this time it was a Duncan Keith shot that d...
