Blackhawks begin annual Western road trip; plans for "NHL Revealed" announced

The Blackhawks (14-3-4) kick off their annual two-week "circus trip" today as they head out on a road trip that will take them to all four Canadian Western conference teams. They will also visit Colorado, Phoenix, and Dallas instead of their usual Thanksgiving weekend swing through California.

First up on the trip is Tuesday night's match at the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs held one of the top spots in the West for most of the early season, but have since lost their past three games and are now 14-5-0 with 28 points, which puts them 4th in the Central, and 2nd in the Western wild card race.

Matt Duchene was injured in Saturday night's game vs Florida, and...

Hawks best in the west with 5-1 win over Sharks

In a match that pitted the best vs the best in the Western Conference, the audience at the United Center in Chicago should have went home very satisfied. The game was a speed vs speed game that was a battle of the titans in the West.

The difference was the Blackhawks control of the neutral zone and their transition game not only offensively but defensively as well. The Sharks never could quit keep pace with the Hawks transition game that saw four of the Hawks five goals coming off of the rush. Special teams was not a factor in this game as all of the goals were five on five scores with the exception of a penalty shot.

The Hawks had great body positioning and back checking off ...

Blackhawks suffer 7-2 loss in Nashville; head home to face Sharks on Sunday

It's not often that the Blackhawks give up a handful or more goals to the Predators. Prior to tonight's 7-2 loss, Chicago last gave up 6 or more goals to Nashville on March 25, 2012.

The Predators made it 2-0 in less than a minute when Matt Cullen and Nick Spaling both scored in the middle of the first period.

After the second goal, Blackhawks goalie Nikolai Khabibulin was injured; Corey Crawford came in to play the rest of the game.

Nashville would stretch their lead to 3-0 with a power play goal 9:02 into the second, and then make it 4-0 with less than two minutes left in the frame.

Patrick Kane broke the shutout shortly after to get t...

Hawks ground Jets in 4-1 home win

The Hawks were firing on all cylinders as the Winnipeg Jets rolled into town on Wednesday night.  Three days after their defeat in Calgary, the Hawks came back to Chicago and dispatched the Jets 4-1.  Corey Crawford was solid in net with 23 stops as the Hawks reached double digits in the win column with their 10th of the season.

This was also the ‘official’ Chicago homecoming of former Hawk forward Michael Frolik, who received a warm welcome from ...

Hawks Drop Second of Back-to-Back Games in OT

The Hawks put a season high 44 shots on goal, but rookie goaltender Reto Berra stood on his head in his NHL debut as the Flames won a 3-2 decision in overtime.  Marian Hossa scored the tying goal as the Hawks earned one point in their second game in two days.

The Hawks had a fast start as per their usual brand of hockey, outshooting the Flames 18-11 in the first period, three of which came on their first power play opportunity.  Berra, who finished the game w...

Blackhawks take 5-1 road win over Wild; prepare to face Sens on Tuesday

Saturday night at the United Center, the Wild outplayed the Blackhawks 5-3. Goalie Niklas Bäckström, who still isn't 100% after a recent knee injury, collected the win. That night, the Blackhawks looked like they were nursing a Cup hangover, with sloppy play and lackluster play.

The Wild were down almost half a dozen players, and after being knocked out of the 2013 playoffs 4 games to 1 by Chicago, the game had to be a confidence-builder for them.

Chicago (6-2-3, 15 points) entered Monday's tilt just one spot ahead of the Wild (6-3-3, 15 points) in the Central division.

Minnesota outshot the Blackhawks in the first period - a trend that would con...

Blackhawks drop wild game 6-5 to Tampa Bay Lightning in OT

The Blackhawks don't often have wild barn-burner games, but Thursday night's game was a doozy of an 6-5 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida.

Chicago has trailed other teams for just a handful of minutes this season. For once, the other team leapt out to a 2-0 lead early. Matthew Carle put the Lightning on the board with a power play goal 6:28 in the first.

Adding insult to injury, the Bolts took the dreaded "too many men" bench penalty - and not only did they outplay the Blackhawks on the PK, but scored against them as well, with Nate Thompson making it 2-0.

Bryan Bickell camped on Ben Bishop's doorstop, and scooped up...

Hawks survive shootout against Panthers

The Hawks kicked off the first leg of their Mother/Son road trip with a shootout win Tuesday night in Florida against the Panthers.  Corey Crawford stopped both Florida attempts in the shootout and Patrick Sharp netted the game winner for the visitors.

The Hawks continued to have trouble putting together a full 60 minutes of hockey, and gave up two unanswered goals to Florida in the third to tie a game that was 2-0 heading into the last period.

Do The Right Thing Jack, Reunite Tavares and Moulson

The Islanders have begun the season slowly on offense, so for some reason their coach Jack Capuano believes that breaking up the teams top scoring pair is the best way to ignite the team. This logic makes no sense.

Blackhawks prepare for the Carolina Hurricanes

The Blackhawks will travel to Carolina to once again face an Eastern Conference team that they have not seen since 2011. They will also be facing a team that would love nothing better than to say they beat the champs.

The Carolina Hurricanes are coming into the contest with a 2-2-2 record and fresh off of back to back losses from the sticks of the LA Kings and most recently the Phoenix Coyotes.

During the Phoenix game starting goalie Anton Khudobin had to leave the game due to a lower body injury on a fluke play when he left his net to play a puck and seemed to twist awkwardly.  Cam Ward will no doubt be in net for the Canes.  For the Hawks don’t be surpr...
