The Flames welcome the Sharks to the Dome for the first time, for their second match-up of the season. They two combatants opened the season against each other as the Sharks defeated the Flames by the score of 4-1. The story for tonight’s game is the return of Miikka Kiprusoff, who will get his first start since going down with a knee injury on February 5th.

There is nothing quite as good as a Friday night fish fry. There is a plethora of ways of cooking fish. You can bake, stir fry, poach, grill, steam and blacken fish into a delicious feast in which one can devour until fully satiated. The Blackhawks did just that Friday when they completely dominated the Sharks.

This game was not even as close as the score would indicate. The Blackhawks came out on fire with purpose and on a mission. If any game exemplified their mantra of one goal so far it has been this one.

Another benchmark game won for the Detroit Red Wings, continuing their home game winning streaks at 23. It was a tough game for both teams, but the Wings were able to come out on top with the help from the star of the game Joey MacDonald.

The Wings controlled the first period, having 8 shots on goal compared to 6 for the Sharks. Henrik Zetterberg took the first goal for the Wings, which he did with a beautiful backhanded shot six minutes into the period. The Wings ended the first period killing a penalty for Bertuzzi for goalie interference.

The second period did not go as well for the Wings. The Sharks dominated with shots on goal, 19 to 8. ...

The Oilers’ struggles continued Thursday night in a 4-2 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, being outshot 42-20. Having four days off before the game could either be a good thing or a bad thing, and for the Oilers, it was a bad thing. They couldn’t get their legs going and the Coyotes coasted past them as if they were nothing. Tonight, the Oilers (14-14-3) look to get back on the right track after two straight losses as they take on the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks traded for Brent Burns and Martin Havlat in the offseason. So what? The real story of this young season has been the incredible play of Joe Pavelski. Playing last year largely as the third line center, Pavelski tallied a career high 66 points. It was that sort of play that made Devin Setoguchi expendable in the offseason, allowing GM Doug Wilson to acquire the top 4 defenseman this team truly needed.
