Hawks prepare to face hot Avs

After a disappointing 4-1 loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night, the Hawks are looking to bounce back against a hot Avs team in Denver.

Halfway through their annual ‘circus trip’, the Hawks have earned four out of a potential six points in their first three games, and now are moving on to the US to round out the trip.

Blackhawks' hard work pays off in 5-0 win at Montreal

The Blackhawks haven't had the start to the season that they would have liked: heading into Tuesday night, they were 6-5-1, their 13 points just good enough for 10th place in the West. This wasn't where Chicago was supposed to be, even among the powerhouse Central division. Part of it was the team's skewed performance: despite averaging a league-best 37.9 SOG/game (not to mention all the blocked and missed shots), the pucks just weren't always going in, even when the Blackhawks were grossly outshooting their competition. Prior to tonight, 10 of the Blackhawks' twelve games were 1-goal affairs, with two determined in OT, and two in the shoot out.  Statistics...

Hawks, Canadiens both seeking wins

It’s far too early to start talking about must-win games for the Chicago Blackhawks, but if you wanted a reason to panic, tonight’s game could be as good a game as any.

The Hawks are coming off of a brutal shutout at home against the bottom-of-the-division Winnipeg Jets and have dropped three of their last four games. They could really use a win to get some mojo back on a team that’s struggled in the goal department as of late.

Hawks gear up to face LA Kings

The Hawks have a return engagement to the Western Conference Final with a very familiar opponent, in fact the same opponent as last year, the Los Angeles Kings. In a series that could be called the tournament of champions the Hawks and the Kings are the last two Stanley Cup Champions and are looking for more championships but must get past each other first.

Throughout these playoffs we have heard the terms resolve and resiliency used on several occasions when describing the Chicago Blackhawks. Now more than ever they will need to muster all of their resolve because the LA Kings have an equal amount and know how to win and what it takes.

The Los Angeles Kings have faced elimina...

In defense of Jeremy Morin

Jeremy Morin has followed a similar career path as Brandon Pirri, bouncing between the minors and big league club and never really sticking or making consistent contributions.  Pirri was traded to Florida, and many thought Morin would be the next out of Rockford. Instead, he’s making his case for the playoffs, and it’s a good one.  After scoring four goals in the last five games, Morin was spotted at Tuesday’s practice with a white practice jersey on- which means he’s a ‘5th line guy’ or healthy scratch.  This should not happen.

Hawks head to Washington for first of back-to-back games

After a dramatic home finale victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, the Hawks have a back to back road trip to finish the season, facing the Washington Capital’s on Friday night.  The Hawks hold the only victory of the season series, as they beat Washington on opening night after their electrifying banner raising ceremony.

The Caps are looking to finish the season strong after officially being eliminated fr...

Hawks grind out the Blues with 4-2 win

Sunday is usually a day for rest and relaxation. On this Sunday afternoon the Blackhawks continued their hard worker bee mentality and were able to grind down the St. Louis Blues. Minus several key players and with Brandon Saad a healthy scratch again saw several maybe not as well known players, unless you follow the Rockford IceHogs, step up but none more than Jeremy Morin.

The plucky Morin had a whale of a game with a goal and an assist. Morin has been bounced between the Blackhawks and the IceHogs all year and this time he is looking to stick with the Hawks and make a case for himself with the coaches to put him on the ice. Fortitude is what Morin has displayed all year whether i...

Hawks gut the Blue Jackets 4-3

When one man goes down another needs to step up when several go down several need to step up and they certainly did. Stacey King, the Bulls broadcaster has a saying bring your “hard hat, lunch pal” game. Bring the blue collar work hard mentality and never quit. The Hawks had several candidates most notably the make shift line of Bickell, Regin and Morin who really stood out.

Ben Smith scored the game winning goal with 3+ seconds left in regulation to deliver the gut wrenching blow to the Columbus Blue Jackets who are a team still looking to maintain or better their positioning in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. This had to delight Detroit, Philadelphia and...

Blackhawks calm the Hurricanes with 3-2 win

The Blackhawks came into the game with a somewhat depleted force. Out of the line up with injuries were Kane, Saad, Bickell and Rozsival. As the mantra goes, the next man up which gave recently called up Jeremy Morin a chance at some United Center Ice.

The injuries also forced coach Joel Quenneville to come up with some unusual line combinations out of necessity. The constant and familiar Corey Crawford however was in net for the Hawks. Anton Khodbin was in the Carolina net.

The Blackhawks dominated the first period with good puck control and dictated the pace and play of the game yet were unable to score. The period went scoreless.

All of the scoring came i...
