Crawford steals two points for Blackhawks against Hurricanes

Corey Crawford stole a game for the Chicago Blackhawks that they had no business winning, making 43 stops in a 3-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes. Andrew Shaw scored twice and Patrick Sharp also added a goal as the Hawks moved to within two points of the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues in the Central Division.

Carolina, well out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference, looked every bit like the team in ‘rebuilding’ mode in the first...

Hawks harpoon the Sharks 6-2

The Hawks and the Sharks faced off in a matinee tilt with both teams coming in needing points in the competitive Western Conference but for different reasons. The Hawks wanted to gain points looking to possibly stay within striking distance of the division lead and keeping those in the rear view mirror way far behind in the mirror. The Sharks are outside the playoffs and needed the points more than the Hawks but perhaps they are the team with the internal turmoil in the organization with cross words between management and Joe Thornton being waged in the media.

The Hawks also continued on the Fathers trip and maybe they want to keep the dads for a while, because this game was exactly...

Blackhawks face off against San Jose

After a tight 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Thursday night, the Blackhawks will face off against San Jose in a matinee showing to cap off their annual road trip with their dads.

The San Jose Sharks are in a bad place right now, both in the standings and off the ice. While they’ve won their last two games, they’re still three points out of a playoff spot behind Winnipeg and Los Angeles, who holds the last wild card spot. Add on top of that a disagreement...

Hawks best Penguins in shootout

Two of the league’s premiere teams faced off in a Sunday matinee when the Pittsburgh Penguins rolled into town to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. Two clubs typically known for their offensive firepower, the game was defensive and chippy, with several non-calls as the refs let the players go at it. The fans at the United Center got to see 65 minutes of hockey along with a dazzling shootout, and in the end watched their hometown Hawks win a 2-1 victory against the Penguins.

Blackhawks shut out again vs Wild

The Blackhawks needed to start off solidly against the MN Wild after their annual Vegas trip. They certainly didn't expect to find themselves in an 0-2 hole after just 10 minutes of play -- or to suffer their second consecutive shutout loss, the first time that has happened since 2006.

Mikko Koivu opened the scoring unassisted at 7:40 in the first period. Jason Zucker would make it 2-0 at the 10-minute mark, and Mikael Granlund would put the final nail in the coffin late in the second.

However, one goal was all they needed, as the Wild held the Blackhawks to just 24 SOG. Compare that to the Wild, who had 24 SOG in the second period alone. Usually, it's the ot...

Blackhawks beat Wild; play vs improving Oilers on Friday

The Avalanche had a "goalie win" versus the Blackhawks earlier this week; last night, Chicago did the same versus the Wild.

There's been few games this season where the Blackhawks have been held under 25 SOG; last night, they had just 20 - but 4 of them were goals, including one empty-netter.

Chicago broke the streak they were on by scoring first, for the first time in seven games, a Patrick Sharp goal 5:08 into the opening period. Patrick Kane would stretch the lead to 2-0 by the end of the period with a power play goal on Thomas Vanek's 5-minute penalty.

Jason Zucker put the Wild on the board just 1:03 into the second.

But de...

Hawks drop Winter Classic on late goal

The NHL rang in the new year with another spectacular display between two of the league’s more popular teams in America’s capital. The Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals played a tight and exciting game in the seventh annual Winter Classic. In the end, it was the home team that triumphed in a game that went all the way down to the wire.

The home team took an early 2-0 lead with a couple of early goals. Just seven minutes into...

Blackhawks wrap up 2014 with roller-coaster game vs Preds

As the Blackhawks played their final game of 2014 - and their last game before the Winter Classic - it was a roller coaster game against the Nashville Predators.

First came the deep plunge of going down 3-0 in the first half of the game. Roman Josi opened up Nashville's scoring on an even-handed goal at 11:50. Craig Smith would stretch out the lead to 2-0 at 17:12. Finally, ten minutes of play later, James Neal would score his first of the night to make it 3-0.

But the Blackhawks weren't about to lay down and take it. Brad Richards scored a few minutes later to get the Blackhawks on the board, 3-1. Andrew Shaw would have his first goal in several games to mak...

Hawks power past Avs to win 5-2

As has become tradition in the last few years on his birthday, Patrick Sharp scored a goal and the Hawks picked up a win, defeating the Avalanche 5-2 in Denver on Saturday night. Corey Crawford found redemption after getting pulled in his last start, stopping 23 shots while opposing netminder Calvin Pickard cooled off after being red-hot in his last three games.

Brent Seabrook earned first star of the game honors, picking up a goal in the win and taking away a golden...

Hawks honor Reif; earn emotional win against Leafs

After a disappointing shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road, the Hawks came back to the United Center and shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 on Sunday night. Antti Raanta stopped 31 shots to earn his second shutout of the year.

The victory was especially meaningful for Chicago tonight after news broke this morning of the passing of assistant equipment manager Clint Reif. Reif, 34, had been with the Blackhawks for nine years and was close to many on...
