Blackhawks host the Edmonton Oilers

The Blackhawks will take on the Edmonton Oilers (4-12-2) who currently reside in the cellar of the Pacific division in the Western Conference.  Both teams will be coming into this game as the second of back to back games.

The Oilers are coming in off of a matinee loss to the Flyers in Philadelphia and the Blackhawks are coming in off of a win in Dallas. The Oilers come into town, their suitcases packed full with troubles and questions along with their Dopp kits.

There is no question that there is enough young, skilled talent on the Oilers squad, their problems have been on the defensive side of the puck. The organization recently made a questionable trade with letting the...

Blackhawks down Stars 5-2; prepare to face Oilers on Sunday

For the first period in Dallas, it felt like the Blackhawks were busy shooting themselves in the foot with a constant parade to the penalty box.

However, despite taking six penalties in this game, Chicago actually made progess on their penalty kill, going 6-for-6, which was good enough to jump from 30th to 27th in league PK standings.

Cody Eakin started the scoring in tonight's game, notching a goal for the Stars 6:10 into the first. Marian Hossa would continue his recent hot streak by opening the scoring for the Blackhawks with just under four minutes left in the period.

Tyler Seguin pulled Dallas ahead with a goal 6:54 into the second, but the lead w...

Hawks ground Jets in 4-1 home win

The Hawks were firing on all cylinders as the Winnipeg Jets rolled into town on Wednesday night.  Three days after their defeat in Calgary, the Hawks came back to Chicago and dispatched the Jets 4-1.  Corey Crawford was solid in net with 23 stops as the Hawks reached double digits in the win column with their 10th of the season.

This was also the ‘official’ Chicago homecoming of former Hawk forward Michael Frolik, who received a warm welcome from ...

Toews Leads Comeback Win Over Sens

The Hawks faced the Senators in the second game of a back to back trip, but the pace was far from sluggish as the two teams traded chances in a high scoring affair en route to a wild 6-5 win.  Jonathan Toews scored his 3rd career hat trick and collected an assist while Corey Crawford made 13 saves in relief of Nikolai Khabibulin after the backup netminder let in 4 goals in 22 shots.

The Hawks scored their first goal of the night on the power play off of a hard sho...

Blackhawks take 5-1 road win over Wild; prepare to face Sens on Tuesday

Saturday night at the United Center, the Wild outplayed the Blackhawks 5-3. Goalie Niklas Bäckström, who still isn't 100% after a recent knee injury, collected the win. That night, the Blackhawks looked like they were nursing a Cup hangover, with sloppy play and lackluster play.

The Wild were down almost half a dozen players, and after being knocked out of the 2013 playoffs 4 games to 1 by Chicago, the game had to be a confidence-builder for them.

Chicago (6-2-3, 15 points) entered Monday's tilt just one spot ahead of the Wild (6-3-3, 15 points) in the Central division.

Minnesota outshot the Blackhawks in the first period - a trend that would con...

Blackhawks drop wild game 6-5 to Tampa Bay Lightning in OT

The Blackhawks don't often have wild barn-burner games, but Thursday night's game was a doozy of an 6-5 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida.

Chicago has trailed other teams for just a handful of minutes this season. For once, the other team leapt out to a 2-0 lead early. Matthew Carle put the Lightning on the board with a power play goal 6:28 in the first.

Adding insult to injury, the Bolts took the dreaded "too many men" bench penalty - and not only did they outplay the Blackhawks on the PK, but scored against them as well, with Nate Thompson making it 2-0.

Bryan Bickell camped on Ben Bishop's doorstop, and scooped up...

Hawks survive shootout against Panthers

The Hawks kicked off the first leg of their Mother/Son road trip with a shootout win Tuesday night in Florida against the Panthers.  Corey Crawford stopped both Florida attempts in the shootout and Patrick Sharp netted the game winner for the visitors.

The Hawks continued to have trouble putting together a full 60 minutes of hockey, and gave up two unanswered goals to Florida in the third to tie a game that was 2-0 heading into the last period.

Blackhawks get 3-2 shootout win over Carolina

The Blackhawks once again leapt out to a lead over their opponent ... and once again, let their opponents back into the game, survived overtime, and managed a win in the shootout.

It's been an all-too-common refrain for the Blackhawks, not only this season, which is less than 10 games old, but from past seasons: Chicago delivers a solid first period, hits cruise control in the second, and scrambles to not give the game away in the third.

Is it a cycle that will stop any time soon? The Blackhawks should know from experience that as defending Stanley Cup champs, every opposing team will bring their "A" game, every single night.

Additionally, un...

Hawks fall to Bruins in OT 2-1

After coming off of that marathon game on Wednesday night the Chicago Blackhawks came out in the first period on fire and thoroughly dominated the Bruins.  The Shots were 19-4 in favor of the Hawks.  The unfortunate thing is they only had one goal to show for all their efforts.

The goal was scored by Patrick Sharp after a flurry of shots were blasted at the Bruins netminder with Tuukka Rask down Sharp was able to get the puck past him for the Hawks lone goal of the night.  The Hawks team speed was evident in the first period as they were much faster than the Bruins.

There was another goal that was disallowed due to the whistle being blown.  Whether it was t...
