Hawks defeat Stars in marathon shootout; head to Phoenix to wrap up circus trip

The Hawks finished off the Canada portion of their Circus road trip with a 3-2 SO win against the Dallas Stars, moving their record to 5-1-0 on the circus road trip.  Corey Crawford stayed in strong in net on a night that the Hawks turned over the puck over far more often than usual, stopping 25 shots and denying 10 shooters in the shootout and earning his 100th NHL win in dramatic fashion.

The Stars got the first goal of the night after a bad play and miscommunic...

Blackhawks complete Canadian sweep on circus trip with win over Flames

Finnish rookie Antti Raanta, 24, got his first official NHL start Wednesday night in Calgary vs. the Flames for the Blackhawks - and his first win.

Both teams battled it out scoreless for over half the game, until Matt Stajan broke through to open the scoring 1-0 for the Flames.

The Blackhawks had a lot of offensive pressure against Calgary, but the Flames were committed heavily to shot-blocking and clogging passing lanes throughout the game.

Sean Monahan gave the Flames a second goal just over two minutes into the third. That point tied Monahan with Bruins Torey Krug for rookie points (15).

It seemed like the Flames' Swiss goaltender Reto B...

Blackhawks cool the Jets 6-3 in Winnipeg

The Blackhawks started off strong in Winnipeg on Thursday night: commanding on the dot, strong defensively, and leading 1-0 after the first from a Patrick Kane laser shot.

Dustin Byfuglien would take a holding penalty for the Jets, followed by Duncan Keith taking a slashing penalty in order to prevent a goal. On the ensuing 4-on-4 play, Brandon Saad stretched the lead out to 2-0 just over 3 minutes into the second -- but the lead would last less than a minute.

Andrew Ladd would open up the scoring for Winnipeg 19 seconds after the Saad goal; and then, as the Byfulgien penalty expired, Keaton Ellerby put in his first of the year, a PPG, just 29 seconds later.

Hawks play host to red-hot Coyotes

The Hawks will look to extend a 3-game winning streak as they take on the Phoenix Coyotes at the United Center on Thursday night.

The Hawks are starting to look like one of the more dominant forces in the NHL again, posting two solid wins against Winnipeg and Dallas last week and narrowly beating an Edmonton team 5-4 that has been notorious for giving the Hawks a tough time.

The Coyotes are coming off a thrilling OT victory against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, wh...

Blackhawks host the Edmonton Oilers

The Blackhawks will take on the Edmonton Oilers (4-12-2) who currently reside in the cellar of the Pacific division in the Western Conference.  Both teams will be coming into this game as the second of back to back games.

The Oilers are coming in off of a matinee loss to the Flyers in Philadelphia and the Blackhawks are coming in off of a win in Dallas. The Oilers come into town, their suitcases packed full with troubles and questions along with their Dopp kits.

There is no question that there is enough young, skilled talent on the Oilers squad, their problems have been on the defensive side of the puck. The organization recently made a questionable trade with letting the...

Blackhawks down Stars 5-2; prepare to face Oilers on Sunday

For the first period in Dallas, it felt like the Blackhawks were busy shooting themselves in the foot with a constant parade to the penalty box.

However, despite taking six penalties in this game, Chicago actually made progess on their penalty kill, going 6-for-6, which was good enough to jump from 30th to 27th in league PK standings.

Cody Eakin started the scoring in tonight's game, notching a goal for the Stars 6:10 into the first. Marian Hossa would continue his recent hot streak by opening the scoring for the Blackhawks with just under four minutes left in the period.

Tyler Seguin pulled Dallas ahead with a goal 6:54 into the second, but the lead w...

Hawks ground Jets in 4-1 home win

The Hawks were firing on all cylinders as the Winnipeg Jets rolled into town on Wednesday night.  Three days after their defeat in Calgary, the Hawks came back to Chicago and dispatched the Jets 4-1.  Corey Crawford was solid in net with 23 stops as the Hawks reached double digits in the win column with their 10th of the season.

This was also the ‘official’ Chicago homecoming of former Hawk forward Michael Frolik, who received a warm welcome from ...

Toews Leads Comeback Win Over Sens

The Hawks faced the Senators in the second game of a back to back trip, but the pace was far from sluggish as the two teams traded chances in a high scoring affair en route to a wild 6-5 win.  Jonathan Toews scored his 3rd career hat trick and collected an assist while Corey Crawford made 13 saves in relief of Nikolai Khabibulin after the backup netminder let in 4 goals in 22 shots.

The Hawks scored their first goal of the night on the power play off of a hard sho...

Blackhawks take 5-1 road win over Wild; prepare to face Sens on Tuesday

Saturday night at the United Center, the Wild outplayed the Blackhawks 5-3. Goalie Niklas Bäckström, who still isn't 100% after a recent knee injury, collected the win. That night, the Blackhawks looked like they were nursing a Cup hangover, with sloppy play and lackluster play.

The Wild were down almost half a dozen players, and after being knocked out of the 2013 playoffs 4 games to 1 by Chicago, the game had to be a confidence-builder for them.

Chicago (6-2-3, 15 points) entered Monday's tilt just one spot ahead of the Wild (6-3-3, 15 points) in the Central division.

Minnesota outshot the Blackhawks in the first period - a trend that would con...

Blackhawks drop wild game 6-5 to Tampa Bay Lightning in OT

The Blackhawks don't often have wild barn-burner games, but Thursday night's game was a doozy of an 6-5 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida.

Chicago has trailed other teams for just a handful of minutes this season. For once, the other team leapt out to a 2-0 lead early. Matthew Carle put the Lightning on the board with a power play goal 6:28 in the first.

Adding insult to injury, the Bolts took the dreaded "too many men" bench penalty - and not only did they outplay the Blackhawks on the PK, but scored against them as well, with Nate Thompson making it 2-0.

Bryan Bickell camped on Ben Bishop's doorstop, and scooped up...
