Griffins Top Midwest Division

The Grand Rapids Griffins are continuing to play good hockey this season. Every game has been close and really exciting to watch. Coach Blashill has brought the team to a new level with his coaching style and it has been great for the fans. He really works the bench and you can see him constantly communicating with the team throughout play. The Griffins are currently in first place in the Midwest Division with 43 points.

Well the Wings will get a chance to see what their potential investments can do as five of the team's prospects will represent their countries in the 2012 World Junior Championships. 

So who are these five young players?

2011 Draft picks: Mattias Backman (Sweden), Tomas Jurco (Slovakia) and Marek Tvrdon (Slovakia)

Backman is a defenseman in the Linkoping junior league and has 9 points in 34 games. Jurco, a YouTube sensation among hockey fans, is a right wing for the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) and has 21 goals and 24 assists this season. Tvrdon is a forward for the Vancouver Giants (WHL) and has 14 ...
