Game Day: Nashville Predators @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes' second game in two nights will see them host the Nashville Predators at Jobing.com Arena as of 7:00 p.m., Arizona time.  Last night the Coyotes won their third game in the row at the expense of the Colorado Avalanche and with 39 saves from their goaltender, Mike Smith.  Phoenix won the last game they played against Nashville by a count of 5-2.

"We gave up a lot of shots tonight and we didn't play as well as we would have liked, but our goaltender hung in there and battled hard for us, and we found enough (offense) to win." - Dave Tippett [1]

Game Day: Phoenix Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche

In one of three games on the Wednesday night schedule, the Colorado Avalanche host the Phoenix Coyotes at 7:30 MST.  Sitting just two points apart, the Avs currently hold the fifth spot in the Western Conference while the Coyotes sit in ninth.  Phoenix won three of four games between the two last season, including two occasions where the opposition failed to come up with a single goal.

Tonight, Phoenix looks to take their winning streak to three games whereas Colorado will try to make it two in a row.  The Avs are 7-4-0, but only got their first home win on Sunday against the Kings, as Matt Duchene scored the game winner in the early moments of the third per...

Howl-o-Ween Game Day: Los Angeles Kings @ Phoenix Coyotes

Yesterday the Phoenix Coyotes acquired centre Cal O’Reilly from the Nashville Predators for a fourth-round pick in 2012. The trade is conditional upon him passing a physical, but it's likely he will make his debut Wednesday as the Coyotes face the Avalanche.

The trade comes in the middle of lots of buzz surrounding the status of another centre, Kyle Turris, and his prolonged holdout that Phoenix general manager Don Maloney has stated publicly will not end in a trade.  Though the hopeful among Coyotes' camp are thinking maybe this trade will cause some movement in that department.

The Los Angeles Kings are back at Jobing.com Arena tonight, after hav...

Game Day: New Jersey Devils @ Phoenix Coyotes

In a rare meeting of East vs. West, the Phoenix Coyotes will look to perhaps better their luck as the last time they faced New Jersey was on December 15th, 2010, a game the Devils won by a score of 3-0.  They also dropped their last game against Dallas in a shootout that lasted eight rounds, the winner being netted by first-time shootout participant Trevor Daley.  It was Phoenix's third straight loss at home.

Shane Doan scored his 300th goal in the contest, marking the second time an NHLer has accomplished the feat without aid of a single hat trick.

Game Day: Dallas Stars @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes will look to play a full, consistent 60 minutes tonight to avoid the same fate as their last two meetings against the Stars.  Loui Eriksson scored with 28 seconds remaining on October 10th to send the game into overtime and ultimately procure his team two points.  Jamie Benn was a similar culprit on March 1st, except he scored with 4.8 seconds left in the game.  The last five matchups between these two teams have been decided by one goal.  This one gets underway at 7 p.m. Arizona time at Jobing.com Arena.

Game Day: Phoenix Coyotes @ Anaheim Ducks

Hobey Baker Award winner Andy Miele makes his NHL debut for the Phoenix Coyotes tonight as they face off against the 4-2-0 Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Centre.  Puck drop is at 5 p.m. PST.

The 2-3-1 Coyotes, despite putting in a better effort against the Los Angeles Kings, were blanked as Jonathan Quick recorded his 100th career win with a shutout, 2-0.  The Ducks are also coming off a loss, their first in five games, as they got off to a slow start against Dallas and were never able to recover in a game that head coach Randy Carlyle referred to as "turnover fest.  It looked like we were working in a restaurant flipping flapjacks." Game Day: Los Angeles Kings @ Phoenix Coyotes

In the first of two meetings between the Kings and the Coyotes in October, one team is looking to build a three-game winning streak while the other is looking to rebound from a paltry showing that saw them outshot 35-16 against the Chicago Blackhawks and outscored 5-2.  In the "probably bad news" category, however, the last time the Coyotes managed this little offense was against Los Angeles.

The Kings have three consecutive wins against the Coyotes and are looking to come out of tonight's game in similar fashion, while Phoenix is trying to move past Tuesday's performance with the knowledge that a big win is needed tonight.

Hawks Thoughts - Game Day 10/18/11 @ Coyotes

Chicago Blackhawks are getting set to battle their southwest neighbors, Phoenix Coyotes, tonight at Jobing.com Arena (Glendale Arena). Game time is 9 pm central and is being broadcasted on WGN for you local Chicago folks. I apologize for the brevity of this post, as I was out of town this past weekend and am still catching up on loose ends.

The Hawks are well on their way towards being a great regular season team provided they can pick up a few of the missing pieces before reaching the mid-season mark. Patrick Kane continues to be an offensive force with 6 pts in 4 games playing at Center, winning 56.5% of his faceoffs, and he has not hurt his team de...

Game Day: Chicago Blackhawks @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes saved very little visible emotion for their former selves on Saturday, shelling the Jets' opposition with 34 shots compared to only 19 in return on their way to a 4-1 win.  Now the 2-1-0-1 'Yotes face off against the 2-1-0-1 Blackhawks, who are coming off a shootout loss against the Boston Bruins.  Half of the four matchups between Phoenix and Chicago last year went to a shootout.

While their records through the first four games are identical, their power plays are not.  Chicago even allowed a shorthanded goal on Saturday, and their record sits at 11.8%  compared to the Coyotes' 23.8%.  Last year, the Blackhawks went for a combin...

Game Day: Winnipeg Jets @ Phoenix Coyotes

It's the clashing of two different eras at the Jobing.com Arena tonight at 7 p.m. EST, as the Winnipeg Jets of the new age face the team they've become since they left Canada fifteen years ago.

They're coming into Phoenix as the only NHL team without a win or a point in 2011-12.  The Coyotes' record against the Winnipeg/Atlanta franchise is 12-1-1, and they are 10-3-1 in their home openers since moving to the desert.  But they will be facing a hungry team with several wild cards in their lineup.

The last time these two teams faced one another in February, the Coyotes beat the then-Thrashers 4-3.
