Flyers fall short to Lightning; Sign D Colaiacovo

The bad luck continues in Tampa for the the Flyers.

Philadelphia came up just short in its quest to snap a long losing streak at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The Lightning held off the Flyers in the third to win 4-3, extending their seven-game home winning streak against the Flyers.

Steven Stamkos was as dangerous as he's ever been, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Valtteri Filppula picked up three assists for the Lightning.

2014-15 Flyers Preview: The New Guys

The Philadelphia Flyers head into the 2014-15 season with virtually the same roster that lost in seven games to the New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division Semifinals.

With that said, there have been a couple new additions to the Flyers’ proverbial puzzle.

2014-15 Flyers Preview: Forwards

The Flyers are going to rely on a balanced offense this season with the woes coming on the back-end. How fast the offense can start up this season will be key.

The first month of the season won’t be easy either. The Flyers begin their first week with back-to-back games in Boston on Wednesday and home on Thursday against New Jersey. The rest of the month is harder than running the gauntlet with games against Montreal, Anaheim, Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Los Angeles and Tampa Bay. On the Devils didn’t make the playoffs last season, but were in the Stanley Cup Final two years ago.

Flyers send Morin back to juniors; Trim roster to 22

It looks like Flyers fans will have to wait to see Samuel Morin on a regular basis.

General manager Ron Hextall stuck with his patience plan, sending the 19-year-old defenseman prospect back to Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Friday. The Flyers also trimmed their roster down to 22 players, waiving three players in hopes they land in Lehigh Valley.

Goaltender Robb Zepp and forwards Jay Rosehill and Chris VandeVelde were all placed on waivers on Friday. They join three players sent to Lehigh on Wednesday.
