Conference Finals Time and TCL Flyers Has Its Picks

The Conference Finals this year will feature no parody.

Two number ones, a number two and a number four have lasted the first two grueling rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and will now face the best of the best in their conference. In fact, all four teams remaining have each won the Cup the last four years.

The Kings are the reigning champs, the Penguins and Blackhawks are the conference favorites and the Bruins are the most physical team in the pack.

Who will move on and who will go home? Conference play starts tomorrow at 5 PM.

TCL Flyers 1st Round Picks; Plus An Outsider's Perpective of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

This is the first time in five years that the Flyers are on the outside looking in. Pretty unfamiliar position for us Flyers writers as well. On the other hand, this is pretty interesting. There are now 16 teams to choose from to get behind and root for these next two months. The TCL Flyers staff will fill you in on those 16 teams and tell you why you should pick them.

TCL Predicts The Stanley Cup Final

2012 Stanley Cup FinalNew Jersey Devils vs. Los Angeles Kings  Every year, we predict, we project, we try to come up with logical conclusions to what's going to happen in the latest NHL season. Everyone has their opinions, everyone comes up with their own regular season and playoff winners, their own Final, their own Stanley Cup Champions. Usually, those predictions end up being wrong. Sure, you might get lucky with a high seed, but if the playoffs prove anything year-in and year-out, it's that the National Hockey League is absolutely unpredictable. This season has ramped that up to a degree we've never seen before. To give you a brief summary, the fir...

TCL Round 2 Staff Predictions: New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals

2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Eastern Conference SemifinalsNew York Rangers ( 1 ) vs. Washington Capitals ( 7 )  It's not surprising that the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals got to the second round, it's how the got here. The Rangers were taken to the bring of elimination against an eighth seeded Ottawa Senators team who, let's face it, probably had no business being in the playoffs in the first place. The Capitals were not favorites in their series against the Boston Bruins, and had their own troubles on their way to a 7th place finish in the regular season, but with the talent they had, and a ridiculous hot rookie goaltender in Braden Holtby they d...

TCL Round 2 Staff Predictions: Phoenix Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators

2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Western Conference SemifinalsPhoenix Coyotes ( 3 ) vs. Nashville Predators ( 4 )  If the first round opponents of these two teams would be facing each other instead of the Preds and Coyotes, we'd be talking about two of the biggest rivals in NHL history, and two recent Stanley Cup winners. But we're not talking about them. We're talking about two underdog teams that got to the second round by beating perennial favorites, with great goaltending, great coaching, and a lot of hard work. It's surprising that the Phoenix Coyotes are even still in the league, yet alone in the second round of these playoffs, after taking out the Chi...

TCL Round 1 Staff Predictions: Phoenix Coyotes Vs. Chicago Blackhawks

( 3 ) PHOENIX COYOTES vs. ( 6 ) CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

The Phoenix Coyotes are still very much here, and they want to win. Fresh off their first division title ever, they must now battle a team not named the Detroit Red Wings in a playoff series for the first time in the post-lockout era. The Chicago Blackhawks, their opponent, finished strong with 101 points despite struggling for numerous stretches during the regular season, mainly because of inconsistent and sometimes inadequate goaltending. It didn't help that Jonathan Toews, their captain and arguably best player, missed more than twenty games with a concussion. He's back now, and is looking for glory.  This is a tou...

Blues vs. Sharks - Playoff Preview

Finally! After a long 82 game schedule the Blues can really get down to business. Champions are not made in the regular season, but are made through the playoffs. This time around, this St. Louis Blues team could make a strong run. They have the home ice set for at least the first two rounds, and looking at their record at home they could not ask for anything better coming into their first playoff game against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

But is home ice enough for these youthful Blues to take down a perennial Western Conference powerhouse in the Sharks? This preview should be able to sort all those questions out and more.

Sharks and Blues

I think a season sweep, and...
