Blackhawks Fall to Visiting Oilers 6-5 for their Second Regulation Loss of the Season

The Chicago Blackhawks (21-2-3) suffered their second consecutive regulation loss Sunday night in a 6-5 barnburner against the visiting Edmonton Oilers (9-11-5), trading in their 24 game points streak for a 2 game pointless streak. After looking sluggish for most of their 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche just two days prior, the Blackhawks continued to appear as though they were skating through quicksand, surrendering four first period goals to a young Edmonton squad that had lost five straight games entering the night’s contest. The Oilers, having been shutout in their previous two outings, scored their first goal in nearly 168 minutes just 2:24 into the opening frame on S...

Blackhawks Bring Down the Avalanche

CHI v COL - Post Game Recap3/6/13 Chicago brings down the Avalanche 3-2 at home.  Chicago fans were a bit confused to hear Dan Carcillo announced as the starting right wing for the Blackhawks on Wednesday night's matchup against apparent rival the Colorado Avalanche, but his game winning goal with 49 seconds left in regulation and joyous celly made the UC crowd go crazy.  The Chicago Blackhawks, now 21-0-3 have three, yes three, historic streaks following them through their unstoppable season. The Hawks are through 24 without a regulation loss for the longest opening streak in NHL history, they have a franchise record streak of 11 consecutive wins, a...

Blackhawks win over Blue Jackets in OT; streak extended to 21

It may not have been Chicago's prettiest effort, but they still came away with the win.

The Blue Jackets were resting and ready to face the Blackhawks on Friday night. Chicago came home on the flip side of a back-to-back, having gotten a win in St. Louis last night.

Columbus has its share of injuries - the most recent occuring just today during morning skate, when Chicago native John Moore suffered an upper body injury. Defenseman Dalton Prout was called up from CBJ's AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons at midday. His flight was delayed and landed at O'Hare at 6:40pm - less than an hour til puck drop. He made it to the United Center in time to g...

Blackhawks Host Blue Jackets; Look to Extend Points Streak to 21 Games

CHI vs CBJ03/01/20137:30pm CST The streaking Chicago Blackhawks (17-0-3) square off against the eternally mismanaged Columbus Blue Jackets (5-12-3) for the second time in six days tonight in Chicago's United Center, and one would expect the Madhouse on Madison to be rocking after the Red, White, and Black's decisive 3-0 road victory over division rival St. Louis last night. Captain Jonathan Toews led off the scoring in last night's affair just twelve seconds into the game and added another tally early in the third for his first points since he posted a goal and an assist on February 17th against the LA Kings. With Chicago continuing to fire on all cylinde...

Blackhawks beat the Blues to extend streak to 20

It took just 12 seconds for the Blackhawks to show how good they are this season.

That's how long it took for Jonathan Toews to put in the first goal of the game, with assists from Brandon Saad and Marian Hossa.

The Blackhawks would go on to notch their third shut out of the season, taking the win 3-0 in St. Louis. In an unusual circumstance, Chicago goalie Corey Crawford played just one period - the first - before Ray Emery took the net for the rest of the game. As Crawford was on the ice for the GWG, he is credited with the win; but neither goalie was credited with a shut out.

Crawford is reported to have an "upper body injury" that is &quo...

Blackhawks Look to End Homestand with Win Against Oilers

CHI vs EDM02/25/20137:30pm CST

The Chicago Blackhawks (15-0-3) look to extend their eighteen game points streak against the Edmonton Oilers (7-7-3) on home ice tonight. It’s the first of three meetings between the two Western Conference squads in this shortened season.

The Blackhawks, who, almost inconceivably, have yet to yield a regulation loss through their first 18 games, are playing in the second half of their fourth back-to-back this season after dispatching the perennially challenged Columbus Blue Jackets 1-0 last night. Despite putting forth one of their weakest efforts of the season, the Hawks were able to walk away with yet another victory on the strength of goa...

Hawks Make History: Sharks Fall 2-1 in Chicago

CHI v STL- post game 2/22/137:30pm CST  Hawks Make History: Sharks Fall 2-1 in Chicago The Chicago Blackhawks made NHL history Friday night in Chicago, successfully starting their season 17 games without a regulation loss, topping the Anaheim Ducks 2006-07 record of 12-0-4.  The Blackhawks now, 14-0-3, send the Sharks on to end their 6 game road trip with a 2-1 loss, making this the 8th flounder for the San Jose team this month.   Ray Emery, making his fourth consecutive start for the Blackhawks, with a healthy Crawford finally in the wings, made 26 saves and is now 7-0-0, tied for wins with his counterpart.  A healthy Marian Hos...
