That just happened. You've seen it before, just in different styles, but Game 3 in Detroit was a typical playoff home loss for the Red Wings. The Nashville Predators came into the building and took a 2-1 series lead with a 3-2 win.

The fact of the matter is the Wings played another incomplete game. They were lackluster the first half and dynamite the second half. For those who are wondering what a 'typical Red Wings playoff home loss' is, here it is, step by step, and most Wings fans will concur with this.

Call it a prediction, a guess or a feeling, but if the Detroit Red Wings go down tonight in Game 2 in Nashville, they'll be hard pressed to win the series.

Following a 3-2 loss in Game 1, Detroit is looking for answers, some that might be answered with a net front presence and a better finishing touch. Henrik Zetterberg missed two empty nets and two Predators goals were lucky defelcetions and one on a bad giveaway by Brad Stuart. Jimmy Howard was solid in net, going toe to toe with Pekka Rinne.

The pundits are out and predicting doomsday for the Detroit Red Wings and a much better fortune for the up and coming Nashville Predators. Detroit has knocked off the Preds in the only two meetings in the playoffs between the two clubs, both in six games in 2004 and 2008. The Central Division foes split the season series at three games a piece. That sets the tone for what can most likely be the most exciting series of the first round.

Strap yourselves in, the Stanley Cup Playoffs start tonight! The Detroit Red Wings will take on the Predators in Nashville in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. This is the third time the two teams have met, with Detroit winning both series in six games (2004, 2008). Many hockey 'experts' are predicting a series win by the Predators, making the Red Wings an underdog, something that they aren't used to being and something they might not be.

Every year it seems as though Nashville comes into the season as an underdog. A team that no one expects to make much noise, and just silently get through the season. This year has been different though for both the team and the fans, coming into the year there were new expectations on the team. Even after losing talent and going younger in the off season it was expected that this year the Predators would make the playoffs and make a run in them. Through 47 games the Predators have 58 points and are in the top 9 in the NHL. After a loss to the Stars on the 23rd, the Preds went into the break with an extra loss on their record but nothing more. Then suddenly on the morning of the 26th with the predators set to host the Wings terrible news hit Pred nation. The captain and arguably best defenseman in the NHL would be sitting out the game with an undisclosed injury. After review of the game in Dallas, fans found what may have caused the now made known concussion. In my world, the Detroit Red Wings won tonight by a score of 3-2 over the Nashville Predators. In real life, NOT TRUE.

Shea Weber scored twice in the last two minutes of the game and Nashville somehow won 4-3. They were out-shot, out-chanced and out-classed until the last two minutes and the Wings don't get a single point for it. That's what happens when you let your foot off the gas pedal.

So here's how this is going to work; I'm going to write an honest game review until the 3-2 mark, and then it's rant time. Fair enough? Here we go.

In the past, the Predators were not known as road warriors. They wouldn’t storm into another team's building and take two points. Nashville got most of its points and wins at Bridgestone Arena, becoming known as one of the best home teams over the past five years. Recently, this has changed. This season, the Preds have the league's 4th best road record at 9-6-1 but they have been struggling at home with a dismal 5-5-3 record, in front of only Carolina and Columbus.

Nashville Predators are known around their league for their drafting and being able to get the most out of their players in the line-up. While this year has shown both of those with Preds rookies coming in and playing above their heads, there have been some both rookies and non-rookies who haven’t played they way they should.
