Flyers D Kimmo Timonen Being Treated for Blood Clots

Flyers veteran defenseman Kimmo Timonen is in Finland where he is being treated for blood clots in his right leg and both lungs, according to the Flyers on Tuesday.

This isn't the first time Timonen has experienced blood clots. He had them in the same leg during the 2008 playoffs, not allowing him to compete in the Eastern Conference Final against the Penguins.

Flyers Sign D Prospect Robert Hagg

Bill Meltzer confirmed a report that the Flyers have signed a one-year entry level contract with Swedish defenseman Robert Hagg.

Hagg will join the Adirondack Pantoms for the remainder of the season, and his contract will start next season. Hagg is considered by many as one of the top prospects in Philadelphia's system, and arguably the best defenseman.

World Juniors Put Five Flyers Prospects In International Spotlight

The 2014 World Junior Championships have come and gone.

Finland captured gold on January 5 to win the tournament for players under the age of 20. The host team, Sweden, fell to Finland 3-2 to settle for silver.

Russia defeated Canada to take home bronze. Canada and the United States, two favorites, went home with nothing.

The World Juniors are exciting to watch for the international hockey fan in everyone each year. But whether you have an allegiance to a certain nation or not, it can still be a good time to get familiar with top young prospects.

Flyers Finish 2013 Draft Focused on Defense

General Manager Paul Holmgren has had to deliver some awful news to Flyers fans over the last several years.

Looking at the Flyers' track record with effective draft picks sticking around in the organization could lead some to take a few tissues to dry their tears.
